I hadn’t realized why until I looked up at the ring.

TheLaineyscar was clearly visible.

Dominic and Micah turned their eyes to me in surprise, and I blushed slightly.

Because of where the scars were, it was obvious that Micah hadn’t done it to himself.

“Fucking hell, girl,” Dominic said. “And here I thought the bastard was the crazy one.”

I shook my head. “He told me to… I, uh, it’s not…”

Dominic laughed and patted my back gently.

I turned back to the stage. I couldn’t even look at Roman.

Movement from the side caught my eye, and I turned slightly and met Dad’s eyes.

His face was purple with rage.

I couldn’t think about him now, not when Micah was back on his feet.

I watched as Micah grabbed Lincoln’s head and bashed it against the fence, keeping the man inside.

Lincoln’s eyes rolled back, and he tried to come back from that, but Micah punched him as soon as he turned around.

I hadn’t noticed it at the beginning of the fight; Lincoln might be bigger than Micah, but he wasn’t faster—or as skilled.

And he was getting frustrated.

And sloppy.

With a scream, he came at Micah.

He swung and missed.

His face turned red, and he swung again and missed him by about an inch.

The third time he came toward him, Micah twisted his body around and kicked Lincoln straight in the stomach.

The man bent over, clutching it and screaming out in pain.

Micah grabbed the man’s head and pulled until his bloody face was revealed to the crowd.

Lincoln’s face scrunched up in pain as he screamed, his hand moving up and clawing at Micah, trying to get him to let go.

Micah turned the man around and pushed his knees up to the man’s chin.

I gasped, and Roman pulled me back into his arms.

It was like watching a train wreck.

I couldn’t look away as Micah turned the man around, climbed on top of Lincoln’s body, and pummeled the man over and over again with his fists.

His face changed, his silver eyes glinting with violence, and I realized, as expressionless as Micah had looked at me, especially in the beginning, when he first brought me home with him, he had never looked at me the same way he did now.

He had never looked at me with the eyes of a monster.

Micah threw the final blow, and Lincoln lay there, unconscious.
