I lay there limply as the gun was pushed away from my grip, and then strong arms came beneath me and carried me up.

“Hold on,” the strange voice said.

The bracelet I wore—the one Micah had given me—was yanked off. Then I felt them reach inside my pocket and pull out the replacement phone Micah had given me not too long ago. It dropped to the ground with a clatter.

“Is she wearing any jewelry?” the strange voice asked.

“No, I don’t think so. Why?”

“The paranoid fucker no doubt tracked her through this. Gotta make sure there ain’t any other things on her for the fucker to track.”

“We can just strip her naked and put her in my car,” Garrett suggested.

I was going to be sick.

“No need. As long as there isn’t any more jewelry. And we don’t have time to give into your perverted fantasy. Just put the bitch in your car and drive back to the house. I’ll meet you there.”

Garrett shifted me up his body before he said, “Yes, ma’am.”

And then darkness took hold and…

Nothing.

MICAH

I knewsomething was fucking wrong when I checked Lainey’s location, and she wasn’t moving.

Or rather, her bracelet wasn’t moving.

Her phone was in the same place her bracelet was, but I knew, even before I got there, that she wouldn’t be there.

Fuck.

My fists clenched, and I wanted to break everything in my path.

Dominic, Roman, and a group of ten brothers followed behind me as we walked up the block to where the bracelet was located.

They were lucky I had gathered our men and came out when I did.

Clean-up crew was on their way to dispose of the bodies in the alleyway.

I felt like my whole world had fucking imploded when Roman told me he gave her one of his guns and told her to run away.

A choice I would have made had I been in his situation, but it didn’t make the fact that she wasn’t fucking there any better.

She better be okay, or I—

Fuck. I closed my eyes.

I had prepared for her to be missing, but my heart still dropped at the sight of the bracelet, her phone, and Roman’s gun on the ground near each other. And no sign of Lainey anywhere.

I didn’t say anything, trying to control the rage boiling in my blood.

Roman moved into my line of sight. “Micah—”

I pulled my arm back and punched him in the jaw. He stumbled back a few steps but didn’t fall.
