I washedaway the blood from my hands with the hose pipe on the side of the house before I walked to the front door.

Lainey was back inside the house.

I had left the mess caused by tonight in Dominic’s capable hands.

He and Kai were directing the brothers to burn down the Basement and Ozzy’s boxing gym, with Ozzy’s body inside.

By the time morning hit, all that would be left of Ozzy Reyes would be a pile of ash, and a police report that would say Ozzy perished in the fire.

That was all there would be to that.

Roman walked out of the house before I could even unlock it.

There was a haunting look in his eyes as he took me in.

“How is she?” I asked.

“Shaken. But she seems okay.”

I nodded.

He looked off to the side.

I grabbed his shoulder and pulled him close to me, resting my forehead against his.

He sucked in a sharp breath. “Micah.”

“I know,” I said.

I held him against me for a few seconds longer, taking in the solid feel of my little brother nearby.

Fuck, but tonight was a fucking mess.

“You can’t do that again,” he said softly.

“What?”

“You can’t lose yourself to the fucking darkness, no matter what. I can’t—” He swallowed loudly. “I can’t lose my big brother.”

I nodded.

“Go home to Ryleigh and Ryker.”

He didn’t say anything for a beat, and then he nodded and pulled away from me.

I stayed where I was, watched him climb on his bike, and he drove off into the night.

I took a deep breath and walked inside the quiet house.

The light was on in the bedroom, which told me Lainey was still awake.

I hesitated in my steps.

I didn’t know how she would react to seeing me after witnessing all that she had witnessed.

Would she run away from me in disgust?

That was what any sane person would do.
