Usually, I got off on that.

Seeing my victims look at me with unadulterated fear in their eyes and knowing I would be the last face they saw was something I fucking looked forward to, but not this time. This time, I was too fucking angry.

“Open the trunk.”

“H-Hey, man. I think you got the wrong person. I know you.”

I smiled. “I got the right one. Open the trunk, Garrett Jones.”

“Fuck. Please. I didn’t do anything. I don’t… I don’t mess with the King’s Men. I swear.”

Ah. So he did know who I was.

“I don’t have a lot of patience tonight. You make me repeat myself, and things will be very bad for you.”

He shook his head, pathetic little whimpers coming out of him as he unlocked the trunk of his car with his keys.

I waited close by.

“Get in.”

“Please. Oh, God. Please. Whatever it is you think I did, I didn’t. I promise.”

“Get. In.”

Shakily, he got inside.

I grabbed his car keys and shut the trunk, cutting off his cries.

The motorcycle engine revved behind me, but I didn’t turn around to see.

Moving quickly to the driver’s side, I got in and drove to an abandoned farmland on the outskirts of town, Edger following close behind me.

He kept his distance.

The only reason Edger was there was to ensure I didn’t lose control completely and to keep a lookout.

I shut off the ignition and moved over to the trunk, opening it, having already been prepared for the fucker to fight me when I did.

He jumped out and tried to push me down with his body weight.

I shoved him off and onto the ground, staring down at him with an expressionless look on my face.

I had about several inches on him and outweighed him by a hundred pounds.

What the fuck did he think would happen?

He shook his head, trying to back away from me. I grabbed a fistful of his hair and pulled him up until he was standing.

“You messed with what’s mine. And you think I’m going to let that go?”

He shook his head as tears streamed down his face. “I didn’t. I didn’t.”

I tightened my grip on him, causing him to wince.

“No? You didn’t put your hands on Lainey? You didn’t ditch her in the middle of fucking nowhere? You didn’t scare her?”

“I-I didn’t know she was yours, I swear. If I did, I would have never touched her!”
