I smiled. “I believe you.”
He paused. “Really?”
“Yup.”
I slammed him against the door. The sound that rang out did nothing to satisfy the rage burning inside me.
If anything, it just made it burn brighter, especially since I knew I couldn’t fucking kill him.
He groaned and clutched his side, where it took the most damage. I walked over to him. He shook his head, opening his mouth, but nothing came out.
The silver rings he wore glinted in the moonlight and caught my attention.
I pulled him up by the arm and pushed him toward the hood of the car.
He struggled as I pushed his hand down and grabbed the blade I had tucked inside my boot.
“Oh, God,” he cried when he caught sight of it.
I pushed his hand out when he tried curling his fingers and ran the blade down his finger without another word.
He screamed, the sound like a fucking symphony to my ears as his blood dripped out and touched my hand.
I left his thumb with the ring still on, lying on the car's hood, and pushed him up until he faced me.
“We didn’t meet, got it? You lost your thumb in a freak accident. And if I find out you talked to anyone, I’ll come back for you. And I won’t be so fucking generous about it.”
“G-Got it. I got it,” he said, clutching his hand that was missing the thumb.
“You ever go near her again, and this will be like fucking child’s play. Yeah?”
He nodded.
I smiled, and then I pulled my hand back and punched him in the face.
His head bounced back, and he fell to the ground. I didn’t give him a chance to recover. I moved over his body, pushed him back so that he was facing me, and pummeled his face.
Edger came up to me and cautiously placed his hand on my shoulder.
I turned to him, and he quickly backed away.
“That’s enough, Micah. Unless you want to spend the rest of your night trying to bury the body.”
I gritted my teeth.
It wasn’t enough.
I wanted to fucking kill him.
“Come on, brother. Go back to your girl. Let this piece of shit pick himself back up.”
I didn’t say anything for a moment, trying to control the rage that was quickly trying to make itself known.
I was not the kind of man that gave into emotions, but fuck if I didn’t just want to let it all go and damn the consequences.
I let Edger pull me up from the fuckhead. I pulled away, took out the bandana tucked in my pocket, and walked over to the thumb. I felt Edger’s eyes on me as I wrapped it along with the ring and shoved it into my pocket.
We headed to his bike.
