Page 50 of Psycho

I tried to crawl away but he grabbed my legs and pulled me toward his huge body.

He moved between them, pressing up against me in such an intimate way that I froze.

I looked at him, my breath coming out in hard pants, and he, for once, didn’t look like a machine.

No…

He looked crazy.

He clutched my chin.

“Either you be good, or I make you.”

What did he really expect?

That I would just lie down and let him do with me as he wished?

My fists clenched as his thumb moved up and swiped over my bottom lip.

He seemed focused on what he was doing—and damn fascinated by it. For a moment, I could pretend I wasn’t being abducted by this psycho but rescued by a man who loved me—couldlove me—but that moment was gone before it could fully form and take hold.

I looked away from him.

His hands reached inside the glove compartment, pulling out… ropes.

I looked at him with wide, fearful eyes, and he didn’t give me time to think as he made quick work of it, tying me up.

It wasn’t tight to the point of pain, but it wasn’t loose either, and I knew I wouldn’t be getting out of them unless he allowed it.

He stayed where he was for a beat before, finally, he pulled away from me and shut the door firmly behind him.

I tried the door handle as he walked over around the front of the truck to the driver’s side, but the child’s lock was in place.

I closed my eyes and rubbed at them roughly when the tears threatened to spill over just as he climbed inside.

I flinched when he closed the door behind him.

This wasn’t happening.

Any moment now, I would wake up, and this would be nothing more than a nightmare.

Please let this be a nightmare.

He reached over and buckled me up, the side of his arm brushed up against my breasts, making my breath catch.

Micah looked at me when he heard it, but didn’t say anything.

He did up his own seatbelt, and then we were off.

“Don’t try anything. I have been going easy on you, so don’t push me, little girl. You wouldn’t like it if you did.”

That had been him going easy on me?

I didn’t say anything to that.

I looked over to the side mirror as Micah took a turn, taking the sight of the trailer out of my view completely.

I didn’t know what I had been expecting when I could finally leave the trailer behind me, but whatever it would have been, this wasn’t it.
