Page 174 of Plunge into Obsession

“We have your address on file, and everything should be delivered soon,” she said, offering a tight smile.

I didn’t say anything else.

I walked out of the store, leading Gabriel away.

He stopped me when we crossed over the threshold.

“Fucking hell,” he said, his voice seductively low. “Do you know what it does to me to see you so possessive of me?”

I glared at him, my hand reaching down for his left hand and pulling it up. His wedding band glinted in the bright sun. “It wasn’t like she had no clue you were married.”

“I know,mi corazón.”

“Stop sounding so condescending,” I said.

I would have been angrier with him if I didn’t see the way he had been reacting to her.

He hadn’t been receptive to her advances, but hell, I wondered if this would be the way for us from now on.

I tried to pull away and walk over to the car where Johnny was waiting. Gabriel wrapped his arm around me and pulled me close until I could feel his hard cock rubbing up against the small of my back.

Hell.

The fact that I wasn’t wearing any underwear, that hehadmy underwear, had never really left my mind, but it was made much more prominent now that I could feel him.

Before he could say anything, a shadow fell over us.

We stilled, confronted by the woman from the bathroom. If she had looked cruel in there, out here, she looked…

Desperate.

“Gabriel. What a surprise.”

I tensed. She knew him?

Intimately, I’d say, from how her eyes practically ate him up.

I turned to Gabriel, but a shutter had fallen over his face. He was hard to read on a good day, but right now, Gabriel didn’t seem to be feeling anything.

Though his hold around my middle tightened marginally.

“Melinda,” he answered her coolly.

I instantly hated the name Melinda.

Her eyes moved down to Gabriel’s hand on me, narrowing a bit before she looked back at his face. She ignored me. I might as well not exist, and based on the sour look on her face, I’d say she wished that was the case.

I moved closer to Gabriel.

“I’d say it’s nice to see you again, but I don’t think this is a coincidence at all, is it?” Gabriel asked.

My eyes widened. His attention was trained intently on Melinda, and his expression seemed to have gotten colder.

Did she follow him here? Was that what Gabriel was trying to say?

She let out a forced laugh, her hands moving up to her flawless hair and twirling it around nervously.

I scrunched my face at her.
