He shook his head and pressed a hard, quick kiss against my lips. When he stepped back, it was as if he was physically pulling the breath from my lungs.

“You have my word, Bianca. Kaia will get home safely.”

Did I believe him?

Despite working for Gabriel for a year now, I had only seen him a handful of times.

How much did I really know about the man besides the fact that I was wildly attracted to him?

But looking into his eyes… I saw no pretense.

Gabriel really was a man of his word… wasn’t he?

I was probably going to regret this later on, but it felt physically impossible to deny him anything.

My body hummed in anticipation, all the words leaving me in a broken exhale.

I nodded.

His whole body seemed braced for my rejection, but when I didn’t offer it, he relaxed and shot me a breathtaking smile.

“Perfect,” he said, his voice all charm and dark promises. “You won’t regret this.”

With that, he grabbed my hand and led me out of there.

I looked at where we were connected, at the way his huge hand engulfed mine entirely, and brought with it a kind of warmth I had never felt before.

We were really doing this.

Hell.

BIANCA

Gabriel ledus to a waiting car at the back of the bar. The man who always accompanied Gabriel to the strip club stood by the driver’s side.

I searched my brain for his name.

It took a little longer to remember since he mostly blended into the background—an impressive feat, considering how big the man was. Bigger than Gabriel, and it was pure muscle, from what I could see.

He stood with his legs apart… a menacing statue, especially with his shaved head as his dark eyes assessed his surroundings, his sharp gaze seemed to miss nothing.

Johnny.

That was his name.

He straightened when he saw us.

Gabriel waved his hand away when Johnny moved to open the door for us. Instead, Gabriel opened it himself and gently ushered me toward it.

I hesitated for a beat, wondering why it felt my life was about to change as soon as I climbed in.

“Mi cariño?”

I pulled out of my stupor at the sound of Gabriel’s voice and climbed inside.

Gabriel followed me, shutting the door behind him as I took in the spacious backspace.
