He opened the door and climbed out before I could say anything.
I sat there, stunned for a moment, wondering what the hell that was supposed to mean. Gabriel peeked his head inside the car and held out his hand for me.
“Coming,mi cariño?”
I both loved and hated the nickname.
Loved the way his lips curved around the words, almost as if he wasn’t speaking it but breathing it, putting so much of his soul in such a simple sound. I could feel it to the very core of my being.
I hated that this might not be anything new to him, and that this nickname made it so hard to remind myself of that.
I slowly placed my hand in his and let him help me out, feeling the rough calluses on his palm.
I wondered what Gabriel had done to earn those calluses since I didn’t think being a businessman would cause them.
Whatever it was, I found it incredibly sexy, and I moved nearer to him.
He glanced down at me with that strange look in his eyes once more before he wrapped his arm around me and tucked me close to his side.
I reveled in his warmth as he led me inside the enormous mansion that I was just now taking notice of.
He lived here?
I turned and gazed about the house when he led us inside. We stood in the grand foyer — as grand as a foyer could be — and took it all in.
The disparity between his life and mine couldn’t be more obvious to me than it was right then.
Gabriel was rich.
I supposed I had known that.
Of course I’d known that.
You didn’t just own various businesses across the Southern border without having money. Still, I supposed his wealth had always been something I didn’t fully grasp.
Not until now.
Opulence was the only way to describe the grand house I was in.
A huge chandelier hung in the middle, the light glinting when I looked up at it.
The floor was made entirely of marble and reminded me so much of an art museum, I was afraid to touch anything.
It didn’t help that he had a few paintings and vases artfully placed throughout what I could see that looked like they could belong in a museum.
I had never been inside a mansion before, and this was it.
“Do you live here alone?” I asked him.
He played with the sleeves of my dress. Goosebumps rose, and I shuddered slightly. “For now.”
“For now?”
He looked at me, making me freeze in place as his hands moved up and down my biceps. Something dark and possessive flashed in his eyes.
He wrapped his arms around my back and leaned down until his lips touched my ear. “I’m going to fucking lose myself inside you tonight. And I won’t stop until you’re crying beneath me, so delirious with want, you won’t think about anything else except how it feels with me moving inside you.Sí,mi corazón?”
I swallowed at the dark note in his voice and could only nod at the expectant look in his eyes.
