“Who?”

“The lieutenant, Butch Billings, the road captain, Ramsy Moreno, and, of course, the VP, Sebastian fucking Cline.”

I nodded.

This wasn’t something that should only be discussed now. We should have thought about this before, but everyone had been fucking distracted. And I knew exactly who the cause of that distraction was.

And the little distraction was the one who was making me feel off all morning.

This was why I didn’t want to take her home.

Why I stayed away.

Not that it was doing much fucking good staying away.

Jesus, but I was still affected, and that pissed me off.

My jaw clenched.

“You okay?” Maverick asked, not missing anything.

I wanted to give some smart-ass remark, anything to take away the calm, cold demeanor he wore so well.

Instead, I nodded and glared back at the screen. “We’ll figure this shit out. But not right now. I have things to get to,” I said, not looking at my brothers.

From the corner of my eye, I could see Silas opening his mouth to say something, but Maverick stopped him, putting one hand on his shoulder and shaking his head.

Silently, they stood up.

Silas walked out the door first.

Maverick stood at the threshold and turned toward me, waiting.

I looked back up at him, letting my exasperation show on my face. The fucker was smiling at me.

“You know, it’s interesting.”

I was going to regret engaging. “What?”

“How much you put up a fight over Silas wanting to keep Mila.”

“Silas or you?”

He shrugged. “Doesn’t matter at this point.”

“Is there a purpose to this?”

He shook his head, his smile widening a bit.

Only the fact that we were in public and needed to put on a front of support for Maverick as the head of the Tiernan crime syndicate stayed my hand. I actively had to resist the urge to get up and punch that smirk off his face.

“Did you know I installed cameras in Mila’s room?”

I didn’t show any outward reaction to that, but it surprised me out of my dark mood.

Fuck.

I did not know that.
