He placed the glass down on the coffee table and pulled me into his arms. I went willingly.

“You think I sound crazy, don’t you?” I asked into his shirt as his scent permeated my senses and reminded me of my childhood.

“No, sweetheart, I don’t think you’re crazy. I also think you’re right. The police won’t do anything unless you have proof for them.”

I closed my eyes, feeling myself relaxing. A big part of why I had been so nervous was that I was afraid he might tell me it was all in my head.

“I’ll have people look into this, and for now, just in case, I’ll call in a few guards around your place, okay?”

It was one of the reasons I turned to him. Leo owned a security firm.

“Really?” I asked, pulling away and looking at him. He tightened his arms around me marginally before letting go.

“Really. There is nothing to worry about. I’m here, okay?”

I nodded, taking in a deep breath and feeling like a huge weight had lifted off my chest. It wasn’t gone completely, but it had lightened.

I did something I had always done. I placed my trust in him.

“Okay,” I answered.

Things definitely took a moreinteresting turn, considering my girl had just gone to Leonardo Briggs for help to “find” me.

I wasn’t easy to find. Especially when I didn’t want to be found.

The guards the bastard had put in place were useless.

Sure, it made things just atadcomplicated when I snuck into her apartment at night, but not impossible, nor was it difficult.

It was almost ironic that she would go to Briggs, of all people, for help to keep me away, considering the fucker had been stalking my girl as well.

I hadn’t reacted since I didn’t know why he was stalking her. Did we share the same obsession? I shook my head in disgust. I was nothing like Briggs.

I took in Lia’s sleeping form from where I stood by the edge of her bed. Just listening to her breathe soothed something inside me. Something that hadn’t felt soothed in a long time.

There was very little I wouldn’t do to keep this feeling with me for as long as possible.

Hardly any lines—if any—I wouldn’t cross to ensure she stayed mine, now until the rest of eternity.

I ran my fingers down the side of her face, down to the collar of her shirt, pulling it down and exposing the skin of her collarbones and the top swell of her tits. All pale, soft skin.

And fucking mine.

The memory of her scent and taste was still fully entrenched in my mind, and like a fucking addict, I didn’t know how long I could go without the next hit.

I was already experiencing symptoms of withdrawal.

The sooner she knew of my existence, my ownership of her, the better.

I wouldn’t have to sneak around like this.

“I’ll be back, baby,” I said to her. Her eyes fluttered, but she didn’t wake. How sweet. Even when she suspected she might have a stalker, it didn't prevent her from going into a deep sleep.

If only I could keep this sweetness for her.
