"You're just being dramatic, Ash. Nothing happened. I'm just tired."

I feel horrible for lying, but I don't want to drag anybody into the mess my father created.

"But …"

I stop her from bringing it up again by cutting her short.

"How was your night?" I emphasize the “your,” giving her a sly wink.

She shoots me an annoyed look but thankfully lets it go by plastering a smile on her face.

"How do you think my night was?" Her lips form a suggestive smirk.

I fake gag and shake my head at her.

"Yeah, I don't think I want to know anymore," I joke.

She squeals.

"He's really a lot better than he looks." She swoons. "An experience I will never forget."

She sighs dramatically.

I roll my eyes. "Well, at least someone got laid."

She pouts. "I was hoping you would, too."

I laugh. "Way to make me look miserable."

"But he did look like he got it in him," She smirks.

"I don't know anything about that because we didn't even kiss, Ash."

"That's strange though," she muses.

"What's so strange about not getting fucked on my first night of moving into a new city?"

"You were dressed to get fucked, Luna!" she exclaims. "And you happened to meet a fine piece of steak that would do just that!"

I roll my eyes. "Whatever, Ash. He wasn't even doing it for me."

Lies.

She sees right through me. "So why are you suddenly beet red?"

I sigh in exasperation. Ashley will never let this go.

My eyes are beginning to droop from the night's events, while I'd like to sit and chat, I need to check on my brother. I decide to throw her a bone.

"He's a nice guy," I mutter, and she pays rapt attention. One would think it's the weather forecast. "We talked about the same things. He's also very attentive."

"I'm still trying to figure out how this didn't lead to sex," she deadpans.

I roll my eyes. "Not everything leads to sex, Ash. Sometimes, some things are better left at the start."

Especially with the stranger at the club. While I was intrigued about the weird emotions he erupted in me, they scared me.

I'm nothing but a girl on the run, a romantic relationship will only add to my mess.
