“That being said, I have a lot of engagements, and you’ll have to be present. From travels to meetings, and you’re expected to be there with me always.”

“I have no problem with that.”

“How confident are you when it comes to problem-solving?”

“Very much. I also attended a problem-solving course for six months, so I’ll say I’m well versed in that aspect.”

“Do you keep late nights?” I ask.

“Excuse me?” she returns.

“I just want to be sure of your punctuality. Lateness is equivalent to incompetence, and I won’t tolerate it.”

She looks at me knowingly.

“I don’t keep late nights, sir.”

A smug smirk is on my face. “No late nights, clubbing or dancing?”

She clears her throat and coughs, her cheeks pink in embarrassment.

“No, sir,” she lies through gritted teeth. “No late night clubbing.”

My chest vibrates in a hum.

“Okay then.”

My tongue grazes my bottom lip, and her eyes are hooked there for a second before she drags them back to my face.

At least the feeling is mutual.

“Where else have you had job experience before this?”

She tucks her shiny hair behind her ears before she replies.

“I’ve not worked any corporate job before.”

She looks flustered, like she’s embarrassed.

“That’s okay.”

Her shoulders instantly relax at my words.

“Having gone through your curriculum Vitae, I already knew you were the right fit for the job, but we needed to have a formal interview first.”

Eric will roll over laughing at how nice I am when I never seem to be. It just seems that Luna brings out a part of me I didn’t know existed.

Luna.

Her name is like a melody to my ears. Calming and soothing. Almost like I want to keep saying it; I’ll never forget.

“I appreciate that,” she replies.

“Having said that, I’ll give you a shot.” She exhales in relief. “A shot means you’ll work here for the first three months as a trial run, and during that time, you’re working on thin ice. If you can’t impress us during those months, we’ll have to let you go.”

How I let the other seven go.

Although a part of me is hoping it doesn’t come to that with Luna. Because that part of me wants to keep her here for a long time.
