I tut and circle him like he’s my prey.

“I don’t think you killed Dad. I know you were rotting in jail when he died.”

He seems to sigh in relief at my words, but I cut him short by placing my palm on his shoulder from behind him.

An intimidating stance that tells him he could be dead any minute.

“I just know there’s more,” I inform him and stand upright.

“More what?”

“Feigning innocence isn’t going to help you very much, Rocco.”

“I’m not.”

“Neither is lying,” I seethe.

“God, fuck you!”

I shrug and stand before him. “Heard that a lot.”

“What do you want to know, you maniac?”

“Takes one to know one.”

“My men have been on your ass since your last visit. From the recent investigations, you’ve been seen to be at Victor Kincaid’s house often. Care to explain why?”

“I don’t know …”

“It’s a simple question, Rocco.”

“Fuck, I just went to visit.”

I punch him in his face.

“Try again.”

“Okay, fine! You psychopath.” I only smile at his insult, enjoying his pain. “I wasn’t just going to visit, we got close.”

“Why the sudden closeness? You didn’t even know him before you went to jail.”

He wheezes. “He reached out to me after I got back. Before I even came to see you.”

“Interesting.” I hum. “What exactly did he reach out to you for?”

He spits. “I was sworn to silence, man. I can’t just say that.”

I chuckle. “Last I checked, Omerta implies you break the silence, and you die. You’ll die either way, so it’s better if you just spill.”

He stares at me in disbelief. “You’re going to kill me?”

“That has been the plan since you got on my radar.”

“God,” he groans in pain.

“The day you came to my office, what was the plan?” I ask knowingly.

“He asked me to plant … cameras in your office to track you.”
