“Yeah! We can't be separated; she's my sister from another mister!”
“Do we really know that though? I mean, we don’t know who my father actually is.”
The room falls deadly silent; you can hear a pin drop as we all stare at Verity open-mouthed. She looks deadly serious for a second before a smile appears on her face, and she winks at me. I burst out laughing, pulling her into my arms.
“That’s my girl! Welcome to the toxic parent group; we are all brats here!” I cheer as I hold my best friend at arm's length and let her see how fucking proud I am of her.
Things become serious after that, and we watch together as Ryan signs the contract and becomes Sean's first fighter as a manager. Verity and I stand proudly, watching our guys as they both shake and start new chapters in their lives.
After a short while, Christian, Sean, and I are ready to leave, and we say goodbye to everyone, promising to help as they redesign the house. As Sean chats with Verity and Ryan, Travis pulls me to one side and engulfs me in a huge hug.
“Thank you,” he whispers in my ear.
“What for?” I frown up at him.
“For being the best friend my girl could ask for. I don’t know what you talked about out there, but you made her laugh and smile, and that’s all I want for her right now.”
“You don’t need to thank me for that. She is my best friend, and there is nothing I wouldn’t do for her. Including murder,” I add a little warning in with the last word. “I will kill you if you break her heart. Don’t think I won't because I have four daddies to help me hide your body, ensuring you will never be found.”
Travis stares momentarily before looking over me to where I know Christian is standing.
“She’s perfect for you guys. She may even be scarier than you, O’Reilly.”
Christian stands behind me so I can lean against him as he wraps his arms around my waist, holding me close.
“She sure is, and we couldn’t be prouder.” He leans to the side to kiss my cheek. “Come on, Baby girl, let’s get home where Maximus and Jason are waiting for us.”
I step out of his arms and head straight for Verity. Holding her tight, I whisper.
“Remember, you can message or call at any time. I’m always here for you.”
“Bratties before Daddies?” she smirks, holding up her little finger.
“Bratties before Daddies,” I smile back, wrapping my pinky around hers, knowing that it’s a pinky promise I never plan on breaking.
ChapterTwelve
JASMINE
Curling up under my blanket, I rest my head on Sean’s lap while my feet are on Christian's.
It’s New Year's Eve, and when asked what I wanted to do, there was only one answer: I wanted to spend it with my four men, watching movies and seeing the new year in with a bang, and I’m not talking the fireworks kind either.
I think it’s safe to say this year has been the worst and best year of my life. I started it alone, feeling like no one would ever love me for me, and ended it by being loved by the four men I had pined for for years.
When I think of all we have been through: the Hudson drama, which left Jason scarred on the inside as well as physically, me being kidnapped, and all of us losing a parent in that house, it’s no wonder we are all happy to see the end of this year. I had started it on the road of self-destruction, but as much as I tried to hide it from the guys, they saw. They rushed in when I needed them the most, picked up all of my broken pieces, and placed them back together. Whenever I’ve started to crumble again, or someone else tried to destroy me, they’ve held me together and cared for me in a way only they could.
“You okay, Princess?” Sean’s hand tightens around my shoulder as he tucks the blanket around me. Lifting my head, I smile, nodding, and blink back tears. He notices and gives me a look, telling me to be honest.
“I was just thinking that I will feel better once we can put this year behind us,” I smile, letting him see that I am, truthfully, okay. Christan's hand, which rests on my ankle, squeezes slightly.
“I will second that.” Glancing up, I find him watching me as his thumb strokes against my skin.
“It’s been a roller coaster, that’s for sure,” Sean chuckles as his hand runs over my head.
“Everything happens for a reason, and as much as it hurts at the time, it has led us to where we are now, Sweetheart.” Christian has said this to me a few times over the last six months, and he couldn’t be more right.
“Next year will be everything you want it to be and more,” Sean says as he continues to play with my hair. “Starting with making you our wife and hopefully ending with you pregnant with our first baby.” I can hear the smile in his voice, and I can’t help but look at Christian, who is grinning at the two of us.
