Just as my hand started to wander down Warren’s chest, the light was shut down, and cheers came from the seats.
I shot up, my head swiveling to look at the noise.
Not only was Piper in the crowd, but so were Violet, Maxwell, Ares, and Tristian.
Piper was standing up, clapping along with Violet, while Warren’s friends stood politely. Ares gave another shout.
My skin heated, and I was quick to try and push Warren away, but he was grabbing me and twisting us so he was on top of me.
“Okay, everyone. Time to leave!”
“Wait—”
I was cut off by Warren’s lips coming to mine as I felt his hands already tearing at my clothes.
“I love you, Addi King.”
I couldn’t help but laugh at his desperation. Oh, how the tables have turned.
“And I love you, Mr. King. Forever. Don’t regret this when I’m old and gray.”
“Sharing the rest of our lives together will be a gift, no matter what changes happen to us or the world around us. As long as I have you, I’m the happiest man in the world.”
I couldn’t keep the tears from falling. I brought him back to me where he belonged.
With me. Forever and always.
EPILOGUE
One Year Later
“Careful, baby,” Warren said, helping me sit down on the office chair.
The desk was large, spanning most of the space. Behind me were all glass windows overlooking the city.
It was breathtaking.
Or at least it would have been if my feet didn’t feel like two overfilled balloons.
I sat down with a heavy sigh, my hand immediately going to my swollen belly.
“I’m gonna have to nap in the car after this,” I warned him. “I don’t think I can make it to dinner.”
“I’ll cancel it,” he said and kneeled down next to me, his hands coming to remove my shoes. “Better yet, I’ll make it a lunch instead.”
“It’s twenty people, Warren,” I reminded. I let out a hiss as he took one of my feet in his hands; it was twice the size. “And Piper and Violet said they had some extra baby stuff to give us.”
“I don’t care,” he growled and started working on the other one. “My pregnant wife is not going to suffer. Even coming here was too much.”
I couldn’t help the smile that spread across my face, my eyes falling to the beautiful sapphire ring he’d proposed with.
After the auction, there was some blowback because of my interview. People were angry, and they had a right to be. But Warren had also made a public statement, and then together we started to work on fixing what my father had ruined.
“It’s also a celebratory dinner,” I said and leaned over the desk to show him the silver nameplate.

Warren looked up at me with a dangerous smirk. His brown eyes were alight; and the scruff on his face had been shaved down just for the occasion. I reached out to run my hand through his graying hair.
