“You want a drink?” I held up the small room service menu for Haley to see.
“Absolutely, I do.” Haley snatched the menu out of my hand and opened it, chewing her bottom lip as she studied her options, “What are you going to get?”
I’d been so fixated on how she was chewing on her lip, wishing I was the one doing the chewing, that I almost missed the question. Snapping my head back into the present moment I responded, “Uh…probably just a beer.”
Between the exposed back and the mere fact that Haley was in my hotel room, I didn’t have the brain capacity to come up with a better order.
“Then I’ll get a glass of wine.” She snapped the menu closed and took a seat on the couch while I called down to order our drinks. When I hung up the phone and turned, I found Haley with her legs crossed in front of her, continuing to study the room we both occupied. I’d known Haley for a long time, so I knew that she was deep in thought about something.
I could see it in her eyes.
“What are ya thinking about there, Jones?” She watched me take off my shoes and slip down on the cushion next to her. I pulled one knee up beside me so I could face her and rested an arm across the back of the couch. She looked away from me, brushed a piece of hair out of her face, and took a breath.
“It’s just that…” Her hands were in her lap and she was spinning the ring she wore on her index finger. “We’re here. I’m here. If seven months ago you told me that I would be here, sitting on this couch, in a room withyou, I wouldn’t believe it.” She let out a small laugh and shook her head. I analyzed my next move for a moment and then started to graze my fingers across her shoulder.
Her skin came alive with goosebumps at the touch and I could see familiar shades of pink on her cheeks.
“I’m really glad you’re here with me. If someone told me seven months ago this would be happening now, I wouldn’t believe it either. But I’m happy it is, Jones.” My voice came out deep and husky. My fingers continued to brush back and forth on her shoulder and my eyes traced the line between my fingers and her eyes.
She shifted in her seat until her legs were touching mine and brought her hand to my arm that was draped along the back of the couch. Her hand moved slowly up my arm and her fingers dragged on the edge of my sleeve. It felt like tiny bolts of lightning were shooting out of them.
When her hand met my cheek, I swore my whole face had caught on fire.
“I’m really glad I’m here too, Cam…” she whispered between almost-closed lips. Our heads were starting to come together and our eyes were darting between meeting each other's glances and looking at the other person’s mouth.
Holy shit. Holy shit. Holy shit.
The sudden knock on the door made us both freeze as if we were sixteen again and being caught making out on the couch by one of our parents. We laughed when we heard, “Room service!” on the other side of the door. Our foreheads touched together and we both laughed again before I got up to answer the door.
After handing the server a five-dollar bill and taking our drinks, I slyly hung the “Do Not Disturb” sign on the handle of the door. I will not be interrupted again in my pursuit of kissing Haley.
Not by a dog and not by room service.
I carried my beer and Haley’s glass of wine back to the couch and as I did, I noticed she’d kicked off her shoes and had her feet tucked under herself. She took the wine glass from me and smiled before taking a sip of her drink. A smile formed on my lips when I watched her start to play with her hair—something she did growing up when she was nervous. I sat back down on the couch next to her and bowed my head to whisper to her.
“Are you nervous?” I flashed her a grin and pulled the strand of hair she was twirling into my fingers so she knew what I was talking about.
When it registered what she was doing, she dropped her hair and punched me playfully in the arm.
“I hate you.”
“You know…you’ve been saying that a lot recently.”
“Yeah, well, if you weren’t so dumb, I wouldn’t have to say it.”
For some people, this back and forth would get old. Not for me though. I could live like this, going back and forth with her like this, every day for the rest of my life if she’d let me.
“Yeah well if you weren’t so god damn cute then I wouldn’t be so dumb, now would I?” I retorted, mimicking the delivery of her words. Our eyes were locked together in an instant and I could see her chest start to rise and fall heavily.
Suddenly, everything started to move in slow motion.
Very carefully, she stood up and set her drink down on the coffee table in front of us. Bending at her waist, she turned around and brought her face eye-level with mine, placing both of her soft hands on my cheeks. She looked at me for a fraction of a second before pressing her lips to mine. Unable to control my hands any longer, I wrapped them around her head and through her hair. My hands gripped the back of her head as I pulled her closer to me, not wanting to be any further apart than required.
I heard her release a small noise from the back of her throat. The vibration shot through my body and straight to my dick. I remembered her exposed back and suddenly needed to get my hands on it immediately. I needed to remember just how soft her skin felt with my own two hands. Moving my hands down her back, I paused when they met her hips and I gently pulled her closer to me. Haley followed my lead and lowered herself down onto my lap.
Our lips never broke contact as my hands explored her back and hers continued to stay roped through my hair. She pulled at it which turned me on even more, making me kiss her even deeper and harder than before. Our tongues clashed and our breath felt like it was becoming one. We dug, clung, and pulled at each other until we were both out of breath, but neither of us seemed to want our contact to end.
Our kisses felt new and familiar all at the same time. Being with Haley like this—tasting her and touching her—was something I never thought I’d get the chance to do again.God really does love me, I guess. My fingers longed to feel more of her and were starting to stray to her front half. When my fingers made contact with the curve of her nipple, Haley took a sharp inhale at the touch and I suddenly worried I had gone too far.
