I could send you something that would be really distracting, but I won’t.

Please do, it would be okay.

Instead, I will ask you to go on a walk with me tonight. Down on the water. What do you say?

Only if you promise to give me a piggyback ride until we hit the water. You know how I feel about sand.

Without even a second passing, he texted me again.

It’s a date. I’ll pick you up at 6 beautiful.

Go crush this call like the boss I know you are. I can’t wait to hear all about it during our walk tonight.

As promised and never late,Cam knocked on the front door of the bungalow right at six o’clock that same evening.

Since we were getting closer to spring, it was still warm outside even as the sun was starting to set. I decided to wear a dress I bought when Piper and I went shopping last weekend and carried a sweater I could pop on in case it got chilly. I loved this dress the instant I saw it. It was floral and longer, just hitting around my shins. It had a sweetheart neckline and little lace around the edges that made me feel pretty.

But seeing Cam’s eyes on me as I wore it made me feel even prettier. When I came out of my bedroom and walked toward him in the entryway, a big grin spread across his face.

“You look beautiful.” His hands wrapped around me and pulled me close, planting a sweet kiss on my cheek. I loved the feeling of his stubble rubbing against my skin. It looked like he hadn’t shaved in a few days and the way his face looked with a five o’clock shadow did something to my insides. I squeezed my thighs together as I took him in.

“Thank you,” I hummed as he pressed his lips to my cheek. “You don’t look so bad yourself, handsome.”

He blushed just enough for me to see.

“Have everything?”

“Yep! Let’s go.” I smiled at him and laced my fingers through his as he pulled me through the door.

“Bye, kids! Have a great time! Remember to practice safe sex, no one wants any accidental love children now!” Piper shouted from the kitchen. At this point I had a long list of comments like that to yell at her about.

We walked to the beach, hand in hand the whole way. When we reached the end of the boardwalk, Cam turned and patted his back which I took as my invitation to jump on so he could give me a piggyback ride down to the water. I placed both my hands on his shoulders and counted to three before jumping up and letting him catch me. I wrapped my legs around his waist and roped my arms around his neck. As he walked toward the water, I dropped my chin into his neck and started to kiss it.

“That’s not fair, Jones,” Cam groaned as I pressed my lips harder into his neck. When I bit him just a little, he growled.

“We’ve gone over this, Johnson. I’m not the professional athlete in this relationship, so I don’t have to play fair,” I mewed in his ear.

He squeezed my ass with his fingers and I yelped out in a mixture of pain and pleasure.

“If you don’t stop, I'm going to carry you back to your room, bend you over, and show you just how unfair I can be, pretty girl.” His head was facing toward mine as he made the threat.

As much as I wanted to let him do that, I was also looking forward to our walk. Walking had always been our thing.

“Okay, okay, I’ll stop. You can put me down now.”

We had made it to the edge of the shore where the sand meets the water. Cam set me down gently and spun me around to face him before I could walk any distance away from him. Now facing one another, he wrapped both his arms around my shoulders and kissed me hard. His tongue grazed my lips and I opened mine, letting him in.

Kissing Cam turned all my insides into pudding and this kiss was no different.

He pulled away from me and smiled, “I love your dress, Jones. You’re the most beautiful woman I’ve ever seen. The girl of my dreams. Thank you for coming on this walk with me tonight.”

If my insides weren’t pudding from the kiss, they were now because of his words.

“You don’t have to thank me, Cam. I was happy to come when you texted me earlier. I was starting to miss you.” I took his hand in mine and started to lead him down the beach. We walked in silence, enjoying one another's company before he spoke.

“So…it’s almost the end, huh?”

Panic struck my belly instantly. What was he talking about, the end? I looked at him with a confused expression.
