“It is a story, right?” Dominic leaned forward and she drew back a bit. “You got any other evidence?”

She blinked.

“As I recall,” his gaze lowered to her breasts. “Any time I was confessing I was fucking you.”

“So, you admit you confessed.”

“To being a damaged abused kid taken in by a gracious family. To having love for a woman I should have considered my sister? To needing Giovanni to be the father I never had? Yes. I confessed. I confess.”

“No. To wanting Lorenzo dead for trying to kill Giovanni. To wanting him dead and helping Giovanni kidnap his wife and torture her. To forcing me to arrange it and set up a medical staff to deliver her baby.”

“With who?”

“With the government of Tanzania... I arranged for her to be taken there, to the doctors.”

“Any proof? Where in Tanzania? What officials? Who were these doctors?”

Sera narrowed her eyes on him. “I told them everything Domi. Even how I escaped you.”

Dominic chuckled. “If I’m such a monster Sera, and I killed my brother and kidnapped his wife, exactly how did you escape me?”

Sera’s smirk faded from her lips. She blinked again.

“I know only one thing. This vow of secrecy you mafia goons believe in is real. When I start telling your secrets, it will weaken Giovanni. It will. If he’s gone so is the wall of protection around you Domi.” She leaned forward. “Think about when he was shot. What did you do? How did you cope? Think about it. If you want to save your life and Catalina’s, you need to cooperate with the Générale. He has all of the evidence against you. Much more than my ‘stories’ to tell.”

Dominic shrugged. “Then take me to Roma and let me stand trial.”

Sera pushed up from the table. “No. He’s going to let you go. He will let you watch until he is ready to bring you down. There is no bottom this time Domi. I know you think you’ve reached the bottom before, but this time there is none. You won’t come back.”

“Sera, Sera, my beautiful, fake, attention starved Sera. The hell you plan for me is nothing to fear. I’m an innocent man. Giovanni is a businessman and my family is falsely accused by a whore doctor who seduced me with pretty pussy while pretending to be someone she wasn’t. And you did it all for a deranged Générale who can’t prove shit.”

“We’ll see,” the doctor said and started to the door.

“Sera?”

She paused. “What?”

“I’m glad you’re back,” Dominic said.

She glanced back at him.

“Maybe we’ll see each other again. Pick up where we left off? I’d like that.”

“Are you threatening me?”

“Have I ever?” he asked.

She stared at him for a long moment then shook her head. “I hate you. I hate you because you could be something different. A good man. You’re smart Domi, but you’ve been brainwashed by the Battaglias to believe this life of evil doing is your only way.”

He nodded. “Hate? Love? Who can tell the difference anymore?”

She walked out. Dominic glanced to the guard who witnessed it all.

“Women?” he shrugged. The guard chuckled. Dominic sat back and waited. He hoped the lawyers moved soon and he was released before dinner. He never missed putting Armando down for bed.
