My mother shook my head. "No, he was busy with homework."
I knew it was a lie. They just didn't want him to come here. They didn't want him to see me, his Alpha brother, marry a human.
"You do look good," my mother quickly added, placing her hand on my chest, and moved my tie. "My handsome son."
I ground my teeth together as Henrik walked over. "We're ready if you guys are."
"Might as well get this thing over with," my father grumbled, reaching his arm out for my mother. "We will take our seats."
They walked past Henrik, and I watched him waiting for something to cross his face. But nothing did. He held a blank expression. If he was insulted, he didn't show it.
I followed after my parents, taking my stand at the altar. I stared at the doors, waiting for Sam to come down the aisle. The rest of the Alphas took a seat near the front. They were all dressed for the occasion.
The music started to play, and the doors opened. I felt my eyes widen as Sam stood there in the doorway with Henrik. She was wearing a beautiful white dress that simmered in the light. She held a bouquet of blue hydrangeas, and her hair was pulled up beautifully. My breath felt like it was kicked out of my lungs as I stared at her.
Henrik walked her down the aisle, and I started stunned the entire time. It wasn't until he gave her a kiss on the forehead and handed her to me did I realize I wasn't breathing.
Sam smiled at her brother, but it slipped as she turned to me. I could hear the priest talking, but my mind was so focused on Sam. I was trying to remember every aspect of her. The makeup, the dress, the hair...it was amazing. She looked like a princess.
The vows were quick, and I couldn't remember anything he'd said.
"You may kiss the bride."
I took a step forward and pulled a hand up, cupping Sam's face. She inhaled slowly as I leaned forward, placing a small peck on her lips. It didn't even last two seconds before she pulled away and turned her face away from me.
There was little clapping, and I knew it was the Alpha's more than anyone else. We turned to the crowd and started down the aisle. As we made it to the hallway, Sam pulled herself away from me.
"Excuse me," she said, turning down the left hallway.
"Where are you going?" I asked.
She threw a glare at me before she rolled her eyes. "I need to make a call and make sure all my stuff was moved over to your house since you decided to hire movers. Because god forbid, we wait a few days to move my stuff."
I frowned, having forgotten I had rescheduled them. Everything slipped my mind as soon as I saw her.
She walked away, and I felt a hand land on my shoulder. "A married man, and you've already pissed off your wife."
I looked over my shoulder at Maddox, who was holding a smug smile on his face. "Must be a record."
"Shut up," I grumbled, knocking his hand off my shoulder. "She's just making a quick call."
"Doesn't sound like that was just a quick call."
I turned to Maddox. "I'm sorry, are you married?"
"Let's not fight," Frank said loudly, stopping next to us. "It's a wedding, after all. And we get to drink now. So, let's do that." He patted both of us on the shoulder, turning us to the event room.
We headed inside and found Henrik already had a beer in his hand as he talked with Jones. Frank pulled his hands free. "Anyone want a beer?"
"I do," Maddox said, following after him.
I looked over my shoulder, waiting for Sam to reappear, but she didn't. I had no idea when she was going to, but I doubted she would slip out at her wedding.
I ended up getting myself a beer and chatting with the guys. I was talking with the guys when I saw Sammy emerge back into the room. Henrik headed towards her, and I watched her eyes brighten up.
I thought of Henrik's threat earlier and knew I didn't want to anger him. Henrik and I had a great relationship, and this could muddy the waters. Now that Sam was my wife, we needed to at least try and get along.
"Look who came back," Maddox elbowed me. "It's your wife."
