Sam shook her head, looking terrified. She shook her head. "I've never been stuck like that before. I was in the dark....and....there was a man."
A man? More questions filled my head, but I pushed them back as I held her close to me. I could ask those later, right now, I wanted to hold her. I needed to know she was okay.
Chapter 26 - Sam
I clung to Jay as tightly as I could. I wished I could push the man’s face from my mind, but he was still there. His dark black eyes were staring deep into mine, and his evil smile. I could see it wasn’t the dark around me that I should have been scared of, but the man standing before me.
I tightened my fingers on Jay, knowing I was no longer there. I was here, and Jay was holding me. I was safe. I broke free from whatever hold he had on me.
“I have you,” Jay whispered into my ear. His hand held my head, and I could feel his fingers shaking.
I wiped away tears as they broke free and leaned back. I could still hear his words. He loved me. He’d said it. He’d yelled it.
“I love you too,” I tell him, looking into his eyes. “I love you just as much. I wish I had said it sooner.”
He cupped my face, pressing a kiss to my mouth. I melted against him.
“Not that I don’t love this, but I’m confused as to what happened.” Katie broke the silence. I quickly realized that there was a crowd and there were a lot of people watching us. I suddenly grew embarrassed as Jay told people to start clearing out.
Katie walked over to me and looked into my face. “Are you okay? Does anything hurt?”
I nodded my head. “I’m okay. I’m fine.”
“What happened? You were talking, and then suddenly you were just…gone.” Katie looked at me worried, shaking his head. “I didn’t know what to do. And since when did you have electricity as part of your magic?”
I looked at her, confused now. “I don’t. That’s not part of it, or at least…I don’t think it is.”
“She’s never used electricity before,” Jay clarifies for Katie. “She’s got the ability to heal. We are still learning her full potential, but that isn’t part of it.”
I thought back to it. I didn’t know who the man was, but he had magic and power. Everything had happened so quickly. What if that was part of his gift?
That pain was from him. He’d stared at me, telling me how everyone was going to pay.
“The virus was created,” I tell them. “There was a man.”
I watched Jay’s face twist up in anger, and his hands curled into fists. “Who? What did he look like?”
While I saw the saw pretty clearly, his face was also distorted. His pure black eyes and his smile were too wicked. Someone that looked like this would be locked up.
I shook my head. “He was tall….extremely tall, and he was wearing all black. I couldn’t really make out his face well, but his voice…” It was going to haunt my nightmares. The way he worded things, and the visions of him watching me. It sent ice down my body.
Kate shook her head, confused, and started to pace. “What do you mean the virus was made? That doesn’t make sense.”
“He created it,” I said as I glanced at Katie. “He told me. He created it to attack the women only. He’s getting his revenge.”
Katie’s eyes widened in horror at that information.
“Wait, you can just treat viruses like that?” Jay looked at Katie. “Seriously?”
Katie nodded. “If you have the understanding, yeah, you can pretty much create a virus…to take down whoever you want. But you have to either infuse it into the body or…”
“Or what?” Jay said, his voice coming in clipped.
“You have to be powerful enough to pick out everyone you want and curse it on them.”
We all knew it wasn’t the first answer, meaning whoever I saw was powerful.
“What did he want with Sam?”
