It seemed like nothing phased him ever and he was so willing to help.

Now was the tough bit, but I could do it.

"My girlfriend needs a job that can sponsor a Canadian visa."

As I spoke, I realized something. It was the first time I called Emmy my girlfriend. This wasn't me trying to minimize my attraction to her. Nope, I just claimed her as my own, and it made my wolf much happier, even if he was a little bit afraid of being too forward with the request.

"Need a bit more detail." Logan's voice sounded like he would help, which was a good sign. He just needed to know more.

"Her name is Emmaline Symon, but she goes by Emmy."

He cut me off right away by saying. "Glad that you have a girlfriend."

I bit back a growl that was forming in the back of my throat. Emmy was mine, and he was mated. If it wasn't anything more than a passing comment, I wouldn't have held my tongue. If he pushed his comments even a little bit further, I would have snapped at him.

Then I realized something. This was a massive overreaction to Logan’s comment. He wasn’t interested in Emmy. If anything it was a classic symptom of mating. Only proving why I was drawn to her.

"Which is why I want her to live in Vancouver long term, but she's on a tourist visa. She's a damn good psychologist and knows how to lead support groups."

It sounded like Logan skidded to a stop. “Hold up. Don’t tell me she’s your AA group leader. You know that’s a bad idea. We need you to stay clean.”

I licked my lips. I had to help her but I couldn’t lie to him. I didn’t want him to get the wrong idea. Yet I had to come clean.

“I’m staying sober and before you say anything, I’m not replacing alcohol with a new lover. I’m ninety-nine percent sure that she’s my mate. I can’t lose her and have her sent back to the states before I know for sure. Please.”

Logan was mated. He had to know how strong that pull was for me and how much that I needed her.

"I'll see what I can do. I got to go into my next meeting, but can you text me her details and maybe her resume?"

Then I was met with complete silence. Not even the sound of breath, which meant that he was done with the call. I was tempted to stuff my phone into my pocket, but if I put off Logan's request, I would forget to do it.

Knowing that I didn't have Emmy's resume, I texted her first.

Can you send me your resume?

Sure. But why?

Remember how I said I would call my friend? He wants it.

I got the resume. I immediately forwarded that and her information to Logan.

Then I prayed to the goddess and hoped that he would come through with something. I couldn't bear to lose her for most of the year when I just found her. It was not like I could get her citizenship since I was just as American.

Right as I was climbing into bed, my phone rang. Looking at her name, I was excited to see it was Emmy.

"Why, hello."

"You contacted Logan freaking Peterson?" She sounded half pissed and half amazed. The duality in her tone made me chuckle.

"Yeah. Is that a problem?"

I hoped it wasn't an issue, but he was my only option. He had the contacts and knew how to get visas done quickly.

Her voice softened as she said, "No. It's actually an amazing job offer. He wants me to develop a wellness program for one of his factories on the outside of town. If it works out well, we could do the same thing at the other locations."

I tried to tamp down on my excitement.

"Wow. That's amazing. I just sent him your resume and asked what he could do. I had no idea what he would come up with, let alone give you an offer today. But that's awesome. Are you going to take the job?"
