She lifts her hands. “I didn’t say anything.”
“I know what you were thinking.”
Shaking her head, she veers toward the car. “Only because I know how horny those boys get after winning a big game.”
“I don’t know about anyone else, but Jackson was definitely insatiable,” I blurt out before I can stop myself.
Jane arches a brow. “Tell me more.”
“Nope.” I open the car door and disappear inside.
Jane gets behind the steering wheel. “You’re no fun. Now that we’re both dating hockey players, we can exchange notes.”
“I’m not dating Jackson!”
“Yet.”
“Yeah, whatever. You just want me to date Jackson because he’s Chad’s best friend.”
“And what’s wrong with that? Besides, there’s more than one perk of you taking Jackson off the market. It’ll drive Caroline mad.”
Shit. I forgot about her.
“So… you’ve drunk from the Caroline hateorade too?”
“I wouldn’t go as far as say I hate her, but… she’s not a pleasant girl. She was furious that I didn’t wake her up to go pick up Chad and Jackson at the bar.”
“No surprise there.”
“And then she wanted to drive to Jackson’s to check on him.”
Ugh. What a pest. “How did you convince her not to come?”
“I didn’t. Chad told her to leave Jackson alone, and that he wasn’t into her.”
My eyes widen. “He did not! But he’s so nice.”
“Heisnice, but he was drunk, and she was acting like a brat. She went home after that.”
I cross my arms. “She already didn’t like me much, but now she must hate my guts. I guess I need to watch my back, huh?”
“Oh, she’s not going to do anything to you.”
“I don’t know about that. She seems the type to get vindictive.”
“I sure hope not. We’re all going to be family.”
I rest my head against the car seat, and sigh. “In-laws are the worst.”
My phone vibrates in my pocket. I look at the screen and smile.
JACKSON: I’m already having withdrawals. Can I see you tomorrow?
“Is that Jackson?” Jane asks with a grin.
I angle the phone screen away from her view. “No.”
“Bullshit. It’s him. What did he say?”
