"Maybe," he said with bright eyes, "but I have so many more."
Hayden stood and ran a hand through his hair. "Well, they'll have to wait. Maggie has somewhere to be."
"And where's that?"
"Not that it's any of your business, but she volunteers at a soup kitchen."
Ryker shrugged. "I could go for some soup."
"Me, too," Santino said. "I'm suddenly ravenous."
Elliot laughed, and Hayden put a hand to his forehead.
"It's for people in need," Hayden said.
"But—"
"You're not coming."
"Ah, you're no fun," Santino said with a pout.
"You're right. I'm not."
As I rose from the couch to stand next to Hayden, Elliot stared at the two of us then snapped his fingers. "That's where I know you from!" he said. "I saw pictures ofyou guysonline. You're the one he was with at that wedding."
"Yep," I said. "It was my sister's."
Ryker shook his head. "How did you get Hayden to go?"
"I'm really not sure," I said with a laugh. "I think he felt sorry for me. My date cancelled at the last minute, and Hayden stepped in."
"Wish I could've gone," the big guy said. "I love weddings."
My eyes widened. "You do?"
"Oh yeah, they're great. We used to play them all the time. Some of our first gigs were weddings."
Elliot nodded. "Those were good times."
"Hmmm," Santino said. "All those beautiful men and women in formal wear, the party atmosphere, love so thick in the air you can taste it. The pay was good, too."
"And the free food rocks," Ryker put in.
"But…Hayden told me you guys hate weddings," I said.
As the three laughed, I looked to my fake boyfriend and placed my hands on my hips.
"You said none of your friends would want to take me."
"Yeah well…"
"You said they'd suffer second-hand embarrassment and weren't interested in being man candy."
Santino gasped, a hand flying to his chest. "He did not?"
"He did," I said.
"Oh Hayden, how could you? You know how much I enjoy being ogled."
