"I just had a feeling Bo could make you happy if you'd let him," she said."And obviously, he has."
"Yeah," I said. "That's true. How's your love lifeby the way? Anyone special I should know about?"
"Nope, I'm not looking for anything serious."
"Neither was I." I shook my head."You know, Scar, the last time I even remember you mentioning a crush it wasyears ago. What was his name?Sam?"
Scarlettscoffed. "That's old news, ancient. I haven't thought of him in forever. Besides, I want to hear more about your adventures with Bo."
And so, I told herabout how Bo came to my window on Sunday night. It was after we'd talked forhourson the phone. I told him I missed him already. He said he wished he could see me. I said me, too. And minutes after we hung up, the next thing I knew, there was alight tap against my windowpane.
"What are you doing here?" I'd said, throwing open the latch. "It's past midnight."
Bo had shrugged. "Wanted to tell you goodnight."
"Such a marshmallow."
"Your marshmallow," he'd replied.
And then of course, there was more kissing. I told Bo he better leave before my father caught him. He said okaybut made me promise that next time I'd show him my bookshelves. Reliving those moments and relaying the story to Scarlett distracted me from the remark she'd made in the car.
However, when I met Bo at my locker, it happened again.
"Hey," I said, leaning up to press a kiss against his jaw.
"Hey," Bo said back. His dark eyes were on me and looked lit from the inside. "What was that for?"
I shrugged. "Just happy to see you, I guess."
In response, he laced our fingers together and brought them to his lips, dropping a kiss on our joinedhands. Flutters erupted inside my chest. I shook my head in wonder.
"I can't even believe this is happening," I said."To be honest, I've had feelings for you for a long time, Stryker."
"Trust me," he said, "I've had mine longer."
"Debatable."
"Do you want to compare notes, Kent?"
"No"—I laughed—"but I never thought we'd really be together. We're so different."
"And there's the tiny fact that you don't believe in happy endings," he replied.
"Yeah, and that."
"I wasn't sure it would happen for us either." He laid another kiss to my hand then added, "Remind me to thank your sister."
"For what?" I asked.
"For all her help."
"Scarlett helped you? With what?"
The bell rang, and he said, "We should get to class.Talk later?"
"Yeah, sure," I said, giving him a smile.
But I was still dying to know what he'd meant.
