They were all high as kites.

I didn’t say anything. It wasn’t my business what they took, as long as I kept them safe.

Alyssa and her friends got more drinks, downing them rapidly, before heading back to the dance floor. This time, when a group of guys approached them, Alyssa stepped closer to me and whispered, “Don’t scare them off this time. We wanna dance with the cute guys.”

Cute was a bit of a stretch, in my opinion. The guys were average looking at best, but I said nothing, and just kept a close watch as each of the women paired off.

Figuring the Bloodline would go directly for Alyssa, and not bother her friends, that’s who I kept my focus on, and I watched like a hawk as she ground her ass against the guy with sandy blond hair.

I felt my dick twitch as I imagined myself in the random guy’s place, with Alyssa so close to me.

I shook the fantasy from my head and took a quick scan of the area to keep a check on who was around. My gaze only left Alyssa for a minute, but when it returned to the spot where she’d been dancing with the blond guy, they were both gone.

Brittany and Courtney were still close by with their partners, so I rushed over to them.

“Where’s Alyssa?” I demanded.

Brittany rolled her eyes. “Jeez, relax, won’t you. She just went to have someprivatetime with Tyler.”

My heart pounded. While Tylerhadlooked unassuming, that meant nothing. He could easily be a mole for the Bloodline, paid to lead Alyssa away to some dark corner where she could easily be drugged and kidnapped.

“Go to the nearest security guard, and don’t move,” I instructed Brittany and Courtney. When neither woman moved, I yelled, “NOW!”

Once Alyssa’s friends were safely standing with one of the club’s security, I started searching for her. I scanned the dance floor, and then checked every little alcove or niche the club had.

I couldn’t find Alyssaanywhere. My heart pounded harder, as I moved from the main room to a second, smaller, room of the club where a different style of music played.

And thank fuck! There she was on a black leather couch, with Tyler. They were locked at the lips, and his hands roved over her body.

Without hesitation, I marched straight towards them. I grabbed Tyler by the collar and yanked him away from Alyssa. “Get out of here,” I demanded, and the guy scrambled away without so much as a backwards glance.

Alyssa stood, her lipstick smudged, and glowered at me. “What the fuck?”

I grabbed her wrist and dragged her back into the main room. “Don’t give me that. What the hell were you playing at? Going off with that guy alone.”

Alyssa rolled her eyes. “Relax, we were just making out.”

“I don’t care what you were doing. He could have been sent by the Bloodline.”

Alyssa laughed in my face. “I know Daddy paid you to watch me, but I think you’re taking your job alittletoo seriously. Tyler wasn’t a plant for the Bloodline, he was just a regular guy looking for a good time. You should try it sometimes. Maybe if you loosened up a little, you wouldn’t have such a stick up your ass, and be hell bent on ruining my night out.”

My nostrils flared, and I narrowed my eyes. Grabbing Alyssa’s arm, I said, “You’re done. I’m taking you home.”

“I’m not done,” Alyssa argued, as I dragged her towards the exit, Courtney and Brittany following close behind.

“Oh yes you are. You might not have a single notion of self-preservation, but I was paid to keep you safe and that’s damn well what I’m going to do. Get in the car!”

Alyssa stamped down her foot like a petulant toddler. “I won’t!”

I was about to grab Alyssa and shove her into my Range Rover if I had to, when Courtney stepped in between us.

“Come on, Lys, it’s getting late. Let’s just call it a night.”

“Traitor!” Alyssa hissed at her friend.

For a moment, I thought a cat fight was about to break out, but then Brittany joined Alyssa and Courtney, throwing her arms around her friends shoulders. “Let’s go home. Those guys weren’t even that cute, and I couldkillfor some shawarma.”

The mention of food instantly calmed Alyssa, who smiled and said, “Great idea, Brit! I’m starving.”
