ONLY FOR YOU
ANNA
Unfortunately, Felix was right. Alice was sleeping peacefully when I checked up on her. But I was still concerned, so I moved her to Jem and Kyle’s suite.
I stroked her hair, kissing her forehead and tucking the blanket over her small frame. Since Jem’s suite had three bedrooms, she was more than fine looking after Alice. Kyle was asleep in his room and Jem had checked up on us and only went to her room when I promised I’d wake her up if I needed anything. I didn’t want to interrupt their sleep anymore for longer, so I checked the baby monitor and closed the door of Alice’s room, stepping out.
“Anna.”
I jumped, turning around with a hand on my thundering heart. My wide eyes looked at the tall man as he scratched his neck.
“Sorry. I didn’t mean to scare you,” Kyle said, moving around the couch, keeping his laptop aside.
“Kyle. I… it’s fine.” I offered him a small smile. He was my neighbor, and he was a ray of sunshine with his golden curls, deep brown eyes and dimples. He loved kids and ever since his late wife had passed away at her job, he loved spending time with his grandma and Alice.
As long as Alice liked him, it was fine with me.
“Thank you for looking after her,” I said. Kyle was going to attend the wedding with Jem, but I didn’t know he’d be awake so early in the morning. “I hope I didn’t wake you up.”
Kyle pushed his glasses up the nose bridge and smiled at me. My heart clenched at his handsome, sweet face. It was so unfair that his love was taken from him at such a young age. He turned thirty, but for someone my age, he was still young.
“You didn’t, so don’t worry about it, Anna.” His voice was gentle and soft. “I couldn’t sleep so I decided to… work.”
It was cute that he got embarrassed for working. But it tugged at my heart. Jem had expressed her concerns about her grandson not being able to sleep ever since his wife passed away.
Life could be so unfair.
I remembered something and smiled. “I have a birthday cake for you in the fridge. With delicious pistachio butter cream.”
His eyes lit up. “You remembered?”
I took a step closer and hugged him. “Happy Birthday, Kyle.”
Since he was tall, my head touched his chest and I listened to his heartbeat for a moment, his hands gingerly patting my back.
“Thank you so much, Anna,” he said when I pulled away. “You didn’t have to?—”
“Shh,” I said, taking my purse from the couch and looked at him. “You’re my neighbor and you’re sweet. Enjoy the cake, but Alice?—”
“I-I will make sure she doesn’t eat a lot. I bought her favorite card game and sandwich.”
“Without peanut butt?—”
“Without peanut butter,” he interrupted me with a small smile. “I know she’s allergic to them.”
“I’ll be back to check up on her!”
He waved me goodbye as I closed the door behind me and took a deep breath. It was a big day. Aaron, my baby, was getting married. He had grown up so much. I needed to move and exert some energy for all the nervousness and anxiety churning in my body. I had a long day today, but I couldn’t sleep when I went back to my room, finding it empty. Caleb must have gone to his room.
I found a hand-written note on the dresser and smiled.
Ordered breakfast for you in the morning, please eat it. But if you need something more filling, you know where my room is ;)
- Caleb
My thighs clenched remembering his filthy words, sexy body and the toe-curling orgasms he had given me. Oh, he’d do more than just fill me. I wanted him. I could not sleep, but I knew if I indulged in my desires so late at night, I would knock on his room, demanding him to fuck me.
My cheeks flushed. Since when did I become such a daring woman?
