I sighed and closed my eyes. “You should tell Kyle about it, Caleb.”
“I will,” he promised, and I opened my eyes when he hugged my stomach on his knees and looked at me with doe eyes. “I’m sorry.”
His voice was soft. Sincere.
I ran my fingers through his soft hair and asked, “What are you sorry for, honey?”
“I didn’t tell you. I still regret it.”
“Did she forgive you afterwards?” I asked, knowing the answer.
He nodded, his hold tightening on me as if he was afraid, I’d run away. “She met my dad later that night so…”
I hummed and kept feathering his hair as he mumbled, “That was my bisexual awakening and I avoided him, Aaron, for months until we met at the university and… you know.”
We stayed silent for a while. Me leaning against the island in his baggy tee shirt and him on his knees, his face nuzzling my stomach.
“You can stand up now,” I whispered to him, my heart feeling lighter. It was still hard to process that he kissed my son. I didn’t want to prod him about the panic attack, but I could guess that he must have remembered the loss of his own mother and Emma’s mom’s funeral might have triggered it.
“No,” he said, his face lifting to meet my eyes, a small pout on his lips. “I enjoy being on my knees for you.”
I cupped his face and said, “Stop being cute and stand up. It’s time for Alice to come home.” Felix would drop her home soon, and I didn’t want him or my daughter to find us like that in my kitchen.
“Promise you’ll let me eat you out later?” He asked, his pout deepening.
“Caleb,” I said, narrowing my eyes at him.
He was acting like I was starving him from eating nutrient rich food.
“No. Promise me,” he begged, his eyes gleaming.
God, he was a brat.
“Fine,” I said, pinching his cheek. “Stand up and get dressed now.”
He smiled, straightening up to his full height and giving me a wet smooch on the lips. “I’ll see you soon once Kyle comes back.”
I nodded and followed him upstairs to look more put together. He had a meeting so Kyle and I would go to his place for dinner, and Alice would spend a day with Jem. I couldn’t wait to come out to Aaron and Alice so we could have family dinners together, even though it would be awkward for Aaron to eat at Caleb’s house knowing he’s my boyfriend.
Caleb was picking up his bike keys, dressed in casual pants, tee and leather jacket when the front door opened, revealing my ex and our daughter.
“Caleb!” Alice beamed and ran to hug his legs, making me smile as he picked her up, ruffling her hair. “Come play tea with me!”

PINKY PROMISE
CALEB
“I’m sorry, kiddo, but I’ve to work,” I said, putting her down. Anna took her pink backpack, and I kneeled to her height when she pouted. “I will play with you tomorrow.”
“Pinky promise?” She raised her pinky, making me chuckle.
“Pinky promise,” I said with a serious voice and wrapped my finger around her, making her grin as she ran to the living room, singing a Disney song.
She was so fucking adorable.
I wanted to give her a sibling. I eyed Anna’s stomach under the dress she had changed into and stood up.
