But here he was asking for a coffee date and then dropping that bomb shell of a fucking question.

“I really have to go, Parker. Where did you hear that nonsense about me and your dad, anyway?”

“Someone said the two of you were in a bar the other night and you looked cozy. I never did like the way he looked at you. He’s a perv who only dates women twenty years younger than him. You realize that, right?”

She shook her head. “Jesus, Parker. You sound like a crazy person. Stop harassing me or I’m calling building security.”

He stepped away from her and backed down the hall. “I tried to give you another chance. You’re going to regret not taking it someday.”

She snorted. “Give me a break.”

When he was out of sight, she leaned against a wall and urged her heart to calm down before she pulled out her phone and sent a text to Noah.

Reva: We have to talk. It’s really important.

Her phone rang seconds later.

“What’s wrong, Reva? Where are you?”

“I'm still at the school. Parker came to see me tonight. And asked if I was fucking you. Well, first he asked if I wanted to go on a date and talk about our future. But when I turned him down, he asked if I was fucking you.”

Noah was quiet for a minute. “I’m sorry that happened, sweetheart. Do you want me to talk to him?”

“What? No! I want to know what you think I should do. We’ve never talked about how to handle it if he came around again. He’s your son, for fuck’s sake.”

“Reva, that’s enough.” His voice was sharp and demanding and halted her pacing. “Stop panicking, little siren. You were with Parker for five years. How often did you see me in that time?”

She thought about it as she resumed her path back and forth across the tile floor.

“Answer me,” he demanded.

“Maybe half a dozen?”

“That’s all the time Parker spent with me, too. We are not close. It’s unlikely he’s going to start hanging around. And if he does, we’ll deal with it. We are both consenting adults here, sweetheart. Is it unconventional? Yes. But we’re not doing anything wrong.”

She blew out a breath. “You’re right. But I’m nervous. And I don’t like the way he showed up here unannounced. How did he even know I would be here? I wasn’t going back to school until after we broke up.”

“That’s a good question. One I might be able to find an answer for. I’ll look into it. Get back to your apartment and call me when you’re inside and naked.”

The line went dead, and she stared at the screen in disbelief.

How could he be thinking of sex at a time like this?

Though, to be fair, certain body parts had been tingling since she saw his name light up her phone.

Twenty minutes later she was in the apartment and stripping off her clothes.

Her phone rang before she got the chance to call him back.

“Give me a chance to obey you before you go calling me,” she teased.

“Excuse me?”

Her face went red. “I’m sorry I thought you were someone else. This is Reva. Who is this?”

“This is the doorman downstairs, Ms. Calhoun. I have a Parker Jasper in the lobby asking about you.”

Fuck. “Did you tell him I live here? He shouldn’t have that information.”
