We shared a home and a bed, and we shared our lives each and every single day. I spent about a week back in Houston taking the remainder of my belongings from Toni’s place and moving them to the ranch, not to mention wrapping things up with Sadie, who was sad to lose another girl, but ultimately she was happy for me.
I was happy for me too. After everything that went down with Travis, I was more determined than ever to live my life to the fullest, to love to the absolute fullest. My ex would be locked up for a long time, but even if he wasn’t, I had my life and my family, my boys right here when I wanted them. Life was good.
Life was perfect.
All I had to do now was tell Colton about our unexpected news. We’d talked about anything and everything under the sun, including children. He was open to the idea but hesitant due to his age. To me, he was the most handsome, virile man I knew. But it was something that caused him constant worry, so I needed to tread carefully.
Be brave. It was almost lunchtime, and though I was no longer the nanny, Hunter was still my primary responsibility, but today he was in the barn with Billy for riding lessons. He was becoming more comfortable on Peanut Butter as they both grew, and the smile he wore after his lessons warmed my heart.
“Molly?”
I smiled at the sound of Colton’s gruff voice. Though he wasn’t a grouch any longer, old habits died hard, and his default was still grouchy. “Upstairs,” I called out nervously. I smoothed my hands over my bare hips, realizing that I was in nothing more than my underwear as his heavy footfalls sounded on the stairs.
“Molly,” he growled, his gaze dark and full of hunger.
“Hey babe.” I smiled nervously. “Good day?”
He nodded, his gaze raked over my body. “Better now. You?”
“Better now,” I echoed his words and went to him, wrapping my arms around his narrow waist. “Lunch will be ready in twenty minutes.”
Colton nodded and stripped down as he made his way to the shower. I watched with lust in my eyes at the strong muscles in his back and his ass, mouth dry at the sight my man made.
I was nervous but determined, and I waited until I heard the shower turn on before I joined him in the bathroom. “Colton, I need to tell you something.”
“Anything,” he answered immediately as he soaped up his wide chest and down his tapered waist. “What is it?”
I inhaled deeply and let it out slowly as the bathroom filled with steam. I didn’t know how to say it, so I decided that the best path forward was the most direct. “I love you.”
He smiled over his shoulder. “I love you too. In fact, I have something to talk to you about too, but you go first.”
I nodded, even though the steam was so thick I could barely make out his muscular form in the shower. “Colton, I’m pregnant. I mean,we’repregnant.”
He froze and slowly turned to me. “We’re having a baby?”
“We are. Please say you’re happy about it.” I held my breath and waited.
“I can’t say that, Molly, because I’m not happy. I’m over the moon. I’m ecstatic. I’m over-fucking-joyed at the prospect of having a baby with you.”
Every cell in my body relaxed at his words. “Yeah?”
“Hell yeah,” he said as he turned to me, showing off his naked body, including the long, thick cock dangling between his thighs. “Are you happy?”
I nodded. “Terrified but so, so happy to be having your baby.”
“Our baby,” he clarified.
“Our baby,” I whispered and watched Colton step from the shower, naked and golden and gorgeous, before he wrapped a towel low on his waist. “Wow. We’re having a baby.”
Colton exited the bathroom, and I followed after him, slowly and, yeah, a little bit scared. “I was waiting for the right time to do this, but it turns out there is no right, no perfect time to make you mine. Other than right here and right now.” His boyish smile threatened to undo my patience, and I cupped his jaws.
“Colton, I’m yours. For as long as you’ll have me.”
“How does forever sound?” He turned towards the chest of drawers, and when he turned back, there was a purple velvet box in his hands. “Molly Mae Riggins, will you do me the greatest honor in the world of being my bride, my best friend, my everything?”
I nodded excitedly. “And so much more, forever and ever.” I flung myself at him, and we toppled over onto the bed. “Yes, I’ll marry you. Name the time and the place.”
“Four weeks,” he shot back. “Just enough time to get you something pretty to wear and plan a party. I don’t want to wait.”
