“Just saying it as it is, babe,” Theo says defensively. “I know what it’s like to have blue balls before you decided you had the hots for me, too.”
“Maybe we should go soyoucan relieve your blue balls,” Brax suggested.
“Yes! Thanks, mate. I think that’s why I keep talking about blue balls. I have sex on my mind.”
Gia and I look at each other and shake our heads.
“He’s your boyfriend,” I say.
“He’s lucky I love him.”
Theo hugs Gia, grinning smugly. “And I love you, my Dancing Queen. Now let’s send these two on their way. Could you get the airbed from upstairs while I get the bikes for them?”
“Airbed?” I ask weakly. Could this be any more embarrassing? Thank God this couple are two of my oldest friends or I won’t be able to show my face to them again.
“What are friends for, Joey?” Theo asks in all seriousness. “You wanna have fun with Brax? You might as well be comfortable.”
“True,” Brax agrees. “Thank you.”
“No worries. I’ll show you the bikes.”
We go to their garage at the back. By the time we get the bikes out and Gia hands us the compacted airbed, I’m much more relaxed.
“Good luck,” Gia says when Brax and I are ready to go. “I hope no one recognises you.”
I nod. Needing to use the bike lights increases the chance of people spotting us riding, but they shouldn’t be able to recognise us from a distance since we’re taking the shortcut through the fields.
I have to say, it’s weird going through all this trouble just to have casual sex with someone. Surprisingly, though, it doesn’t feel insignificant to me. It’s like I’m embarking on something momentous, and I’m getting more and more excited about it.
I probably should take more risks in life. It’s proving to be fun, and we’ve only just begun.
We arrive at the Pies’ barn without any incidents.
“Let’s keep these open,” Brax says as he unlatches the double doors, “so we spot any oncoming headlights. You just never know.” He flicks the light switch and places the airbed in the corner.
“We probably should turn the lights off later, too, before we start…you know.” I can feel myself blushing.
Brax puts his arms around me and holds me close. “Nervous?”
I take a slow, deep breath, letting myself relax into his embrace and willing the butterflies in my stomach to settle. “Yes, but I’m excited, too.”
“Good,” he murmurs. “Because I want the lights on so I can see you.Allof you.”
Heat suffuses my body as I look into his eyes.
I can’t believe it. I’m having a fling with Braxton Quinn, my used-to-be number-one enemy. I never dreamt we’d end up here.
Or maybe I did. I just didn’t want to accept that I’d been attracted to him from the start—because I thought he was an asshole.
I’ve never been glad to be wrong or I’d be missing this opportunity to have sex with a man who’s now gaping at me with naked desire on his face. It’s incredibly arousing, and I’m surprised by how much my body is responding to him with just a look.
Without another word, he captures my lips with his. I’m instantly lost. I’ve never known a kiss to be this passionate and hungry in just a heartbeat.
Then his lips and hands are all over me, and all I can do is feel.
And cling to him.
And want more.
