No, I’m not suddenly wanting more than just sex with Joey. It’s actually my dick talking. And my balls, which have gone from blue to purple by now.
In any case, I can’t afford to have feelings beyond friendship for her. Ollie and I leave Moonstruck Cove in two weeks and who knows when we’ll be back? My parents have already been discussing visiting New York with the rest of my siblings so it’ll be years before I see Joey again after this holiday. Icannotafford to fall for her.
Besides, once this itch for Joey is scratched, I bet I’ll be the same guy as before—a terrible boyfriend.
I shake my head to clear my mind and try to focus back on work.
At quarter to three, I’ve managed to get a chunk done. Not a whole lot, but it will have to do for now. I email it to Lando and then close my laptop. No more work for the next few hours. Time to head to the barn.
I go to the bathroom to freshen up, and I catch myself in the mirror, a big grin on my face.
I get off the bike before I see the barn and start walking. Careful not to make a sound, I approach the side door with stealth that would make a cat proud. The door’s closed, so I open it an inch, thankful it doesn’t creak. I close one eye and use the other to look through the narrow gap, looking for Dimple.
Where is she?
I push the door a little bit more. I see her handbag so she’s in there somewhere. Maybe she’s in?—
“Boo!”
Jumping out of my skin, I let out a yell.
Joey laughs her head off.
“There you are,” I say dryly.
“What were you trying to do? Scare me?” she asks amidst her laughter.
“I was going to surprise you. I said I’d be here at half past three, so I’m early.”
“I knew you were coming at three.”
I cock my head. “Did I say that?”
“No. Liss did.”
“Don’t tell me she saw us having sex in her head,” I say in horror.
Joey’s eyes grow like saucers. “God, I hope not. She just told me to expect my visitor at three.”
“Did she look disgusted or something?”
“No. And she didn’t giggle or make innuendos, either. So I don’t think she saw us in her head.”
“I bloody hope not. Anyway…” I pull Joey towards me and wrap my arms around her. “You looked happy to see me. You must have missed me a lot, huh?”
She giggles. “I was laughingatyou!”
“Oh?” I cup her face and swipe my thumb on her lower lip. “So you didn’t miss me at all?”
Joey scrunches her nose and gestures with her hand, indicating maybe.
I tighten my arms around her waist and place soft kisses along the side of her face. “So you didn’t think of me at all? You didn’t replay in your mind what I did to you inside this barn?”
She gulps audibly. “Maybe I did just a little bit.”
“Which part did you like remembering?” I whisper in her ear.
She inhales deeply before answering. “All of it.”
