“How do I get home?” Kira looks at Kayla.

“We can get you a room at a hotel on the interstate. You can call someone to pick you up from there, or we can get you a bus ticket,” Mack tells her.

Kira stares at Kayla for a long moment. Kayla doesn’t move or offer to help her get back to Knoxville. I won’t allow her to drive back into that city knowing someone there could hurt her again.

Kira drops her head again. “He’ll kill me, won’t he?”

“More than likely,” Lily says softly. Her eyes meet Jack’s.

Kira takes a deep breath and looks up at Nanny. “I don’t wanna go back. Help me. Please help me.”

Kayla, Lily, and Nanny go to Kira and wrap their arms around her. For a moment, I feared she’d return to Knoxville.

“Okay, Miss Mitchell.” Mack stands after the ladies part. “Welcome to the Viking Warriors MC.”

“And Ariel’s Angels,” Nanny adds.

“What’s Ariel’s Angels?” Kira asks.

“The organization that’s going to save you and help you start over,” Nanny explains.

“Okay. Let’s get Miss Mitchell settled for the night,” Mack says.

Nick looks up from his laptop. “A room at the Haven House is ready for her.”

“What about Kayla?” Lily asks.

Mack and Nanny look at each other. Kayla starts to speak. Nope. She gets no say in this.

“She stays on club property.” Everyone turns to me. “It’s safer if she does.”

“He’s right,” Jack agrees. “We don’t know where Trent Colby is. If he was in the parking lot when the attack happened, he could have followed them here.”

“She can have my room here. I can stay with my parents or at my grandparents’ ranch if that helps.” I won’t. I’m not letting Kayla out of my sight. No matter what she stays, I’ll be close by.

“Thank you, Rodeo, but that’s not necessary.” Nanny smiles sweetly at me before looking Kayla in the eye, daring her to dispute her decision. “Both ladies will stay at the Haven House until we have a better idea of what we’re up against.”

“That’s an excellent idea,” Lily quickly agrees. “I’ll walk them up there.”

Jack rushes forward. “Uh, angel. That might not be a good idea.”

Lily lays her palm against his cheek and smiles. “It’s okay, Jack. I know you hate going there. Jay or Rodeo can walk me back.”

“That’s not quite it.” Jack huffs. “Well, it’s part of it.”

“What’s the other part?” Lily tilts her head.

“Tell her now, Jack,” Nanny insists.

Jack’s shoulders drop. “Don’t be angry.”

“Wrong choice of words,” Worley mumbles.

Lily takes a step back and pokes Jack in the chest. “Out with it, Jack.”

“Nina’s here,” he finally just spits it out.

Lily blinks rapidly. “Nina? My friend, Nina Lowe? The woman who sent me here and saved my life is in Willow Creek?”
