I dropped to one knee, and Sadie’s hands flew over her mouth.

“I love you, Sadie. I’ve loved you since I first laid down on your massage table, and I’ll never stop. I’ll protect you, keep you safe, and love you until my dying day, I promise you that. Please make me the happiest man in the world and marry me.”

Tears streamed down her face. “I never believed in love at first sight…or hell, even love for that matter, until I met you, Arlo. You’ve changed my life, and even in these few short days, I know, without a doubt, that you’re the one for me.”

I jumped to my feet, wrapped my arms around her, and kissed her over and over. “We’re crazy, right?” I laughed.

“Actually, what’s even crazier is that Lacey was right. There is a love bug going around this small town!”

“Crew said the same thing! They passed it on to us.” I ran my hands over her delicious curves, mydelicious curves.

“I’m glad they did.”

“Me too, baby. Me too.”

EPILOGUE

Sadie

One month later

“How doyou feel about lots of kids running around?” I asked my now husband. We ditched the condoms a couple of weeks ago, and I was secretly hoping I was already pregnant.

I doubted it could happen that fast, but with the number of times we’d had sex, I could be proven wrong.

“Define lots.” Arlo played with my hair as we lay in bed together after another one of our many romps. It was a lazy Saturday morning. Warrior was asleep in his bed next to ours after Arlo took him for an early walk. He was getting better with house training, which meant more freedom to roam. But he always ended up in here, with us. He was part of the family.

“Like maybe four…or five?”

Arlo chuckled and pulled me closer to his chest. I rested my head on his bicep and listened to the beat of his heart, the sound soothing to my soul. “If that’s what makes you happy, then I’m all for it. I didn’t come from a big family, and both my parents have passed on now, but I often wondered what it’d be like to have one.”

“Me too.” I traced the ridges of his chest and the edges of his tattoos with my finger. “I’m so sorry about your parents.”

“It’s okay. It was a long time ago. And one of the many reasons I joined the military. The idea of building a family with you, lots of mini versions of ourselves running around, well…honestly, I can’t think of anything better.”

“Really?” I lifted my head and took his face in my hands, his sexy scruff beard turning me on again.

Arlo stared deep into my soul, so deep it stole the breath right out of my lungs. “Yes. All I want is for you to be happy. If we have one kid and it turns out to be a lot more difficult than we think, then we don’t have to have more. But I will say this…I’ve heard pregnancy sex is amazing.” He grinned.

“Who did you hear that from?” I asked between fits of giggles.

“I’ve overheard some of the guys talking about it. How they can’t get enough of their woman when she’s all gorgeous and glowing while carrying their child, and how it feels more intense.”

“Wow, the guys said all that?”

Arlo laughed. “Yeah, why?”

“Usually, guys don’t give much detail.”

Arlo flipped us over without warning to hover above me, caging me in with his strong arms. I squealed when Arlo’s hands found my ass cheeks and began caressing them. “Good point. The men in this town seem to be of a different variety.”

“Oh yeah, like what?”

“Intense, passionate, and full of love for their women.”

“That damn Appleridge love bug, hmm? Better start warning a few of your single buddies. Lacey’s on a hiring spree, and she’s got a few more girls lined up for interviews.”

“I’ll put the word out. Now how about we go straight to the fun part and start trying for a baby?”
