“I can’t get any closer without knowing her password. I’m sure she uses two factor authentication. We have to watch her more.” He said.

I sighed. I would have to be nicer to her, get her to trust me. That meant spending more time with her. The rest of my pack was too compromised.

“I’m on it.” I said, with a lingering doubt in my stomach. In all our attempts to be ethical and do things the right way, we were still going to have to bend the rules when it came to Celeste.

Chapter 35

Celeste

My life was a disaster. Like, full-blown soap opera levels of messy. I used to think the tabloids exaggerated my exploits, but honestly? They were probably holding back. Because right now, I was being blackmailed by the very same pack that just so happened to be my scent matches.

My scent matches, who also can’t seem to get over their anger at my company’s dominance, and suspect me to be behind corporate sabotage. And despite all that drama, I’d still managed to sleep with two of them.

Now, I couldn’t get any of them out of my head. Fantastic.

I’d been checking in with Bella, but so far her contact hadn’t been able to hack into any of Pack Lockwood’s data. So now I was just stuck, wondering who was behind the leak at my company, where Arnault was, and how I was going to get through the rest of this messy situation without losing my mind - or any more of my panties.

My phone buzzed, and my uncle was calling. I answered it, seeing as this was a Saturday and it had to be urgent if he was calling on my day off.

“Yes?” I answered, and his voice was hushed as he spoke.

“I got someone to pose as a client for Pack Lockwood. All three members are going to meet him, the house should be clear for at least an hour. Now’s your chance!” He said, and my heart started beating faster. “See what you can find.”

I sighed, pinching the bridge of my nose. “Breaking and entering before brunch. Love that for me.”

“Do you want answers or not?”

“Fine, fine. I’m on it,” I muttered before hanging up.

Because really, what’s one more terrible decision in the grand scheme of things?

I looked at the clock. They should be leaving any second now. I stood up and pressed my ear to the door leading to the main hallway, hearing the soft echo of the front door slam. The guys should be gone now, and I’d be alone in their house for a rare moment. That also meant I could finally spend some time trying to find evidence of who leaked the Tedena Incident to them.

That is, if there was any evidence to be found. I knew they needed proof of the paperwork I’d supposedly signed off on, so their phones or office would be a good place to start. I’d been in my room all morning, and they probably thought I’d stay there like I usually did. But today I was willing to risk it all.

I tiptoed out of my room and quietly walked down the hall until I was out of my wing and in the main house.

“Hello?” I called out as a precaution. Sure enough, I saw their SUV peel off down the driveway. Perfect. The first place I thought to look would be their home office, which was in the hallway adjacent to their bedrooms.

I padded down the tile, bracing myself as I smelled their scents growing stronger. Their rooms would be absolutely drenched in their masculine scent, and it would be a struggle for me not to want to abandon this mission and go and roll around in their sheets. I tried to breathe through my mouth, but I could practically taste them.

Stopping at the first door, I knocked like a good little spy with a totally reasonable excuse queued up in case someone was actually home. No answer. I opened it, only to find a guest bathroom. Sighing, I shut the door and walked past the only room I’d been in before - Liam’s room. I thought back to that day I spent cuddled up in his arms, the very thought of what we’d done making me feel warm and close to losing my resolve. I needed focus on finding out where they got their documents for the blackmail, not reliving our steamy night together.

I walked further down the wing, until the strong scent of Vigo and Dante’s rooms filled my lungs. In between there was another door that looked promising. I walked toward it, but the room at the very end of the wing caught my eye. When I first arrived here, they had told me it was off limits. I knew that had to be some kind of trap, but I couldn't help myself. I walked toward it, like a mouse toward a trap, my curiosity too strong to ignore.

When I got close, I detected no scent coming from inside. Clearly they never went in here, so it wasn’t an office. But what was it? I reached for the handle, turning it softly, only to find it locked.

“Damn.” I whispered under my breath. Reaching up, I pulled a bobby pin from my messy bun. One thing I was good at was being underestimated for my vanity, but in this case I was glad to always have a hair accessory on me. I bent the bobby pin, then crouched down to jiggle the handle as I worked the lock. With a click, I pushed it down all the way and opened the door.

It was dark inside, and I hesitated at the threshold, letting my eyes adjust to the dim light. As the shadows gave way, I stepped in slowly, taking in the space. There was a bed in the center, but little else. No personal touches, no clutter, just stillness. And then it hit me. This wasn’t just any room. It was a nesting room - empty, unused, and waiting.

A pang of guilt twisted in my gut. This room had been meant for an omega - one they probably thought they’d never find after I’d helped destroy their reputation. I stepped closer, letting my fingers trail over the soft fabric of the massive bed. It had never been used; the faint mustiness in the air told me it had been shut away for a long time. I was so caught up in my thoughts, I didn’t realize I wasn’t alone until the door slammed shut behind me.

“What the hell do you think you’re doing?”

The low growl cut through the silence, sending a jolt of panic straight through me. I spun around, eyes wide, just as Dante stormed into the room, fury etched across his face.

“I’m sorry, I just-”
