Holi didn’t ask him to intervene between him and alpha Lane. Though Holi wasn’t sure how that mess would have ended. Lane had been determined to embarrass him for pushing him.
Maybe Xaine did save him.
Shit. Holi bit the inside of his mouth, regretting a few minutes ago. Maybe he should have thanked him like he asked.
Argh…don’t take his side. He’s domineering and toxic. The alpha was too much. No, manners what’s so ever. And that mouth? How dare he say those things to him?
It took a minute for Holi to realize that he wasn’t alone. He shifted his gaze to stare at the beta who looked at him apologetically.
“I apologize for my master’s behaviour yet again,” he said with a slight bow. The beta smiled at him warmly, immediately putting Holi at ease.
“That devil should be the one to apologize to…” Holi trailed off when he realized what he’d just said in front of the beta. “I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to call him the devil.” Holi stared at his feet.
He could think that the Xaine was the devil, but it didn’t feel right to say it out loud. Name-calling wasn’t right, even if the alpha made him angry.
“No. I should be the one apologizing for his behaviour. He shouldn’t have approached you like that. He can be scary and intimidating. Believe it or not, he’s a nice alpha. He’s just an overly sensitive, aggressive alpha, and he gets triggered easily.”
“Does that mean he can go around harassing people?”
“No. Of course not. I am sincerely sorry.” He bowed again. “Please, give me your address. A compensation will be sent to your home.”
“What? No. He didn’t touch me,” Holi said. Xaine had kept his hands on the wall the whole time. Though he’d been close, too close for comfort, he never touched him.
“Are you sure?” the beta asked, staring at him curiously.
“Yes. Nothing happened,” Holi said. He walked through the plants and made his way out of the house without meeting anyone. Grateful, Holi went in search of Sah. The operator jumped into action when he saw him coming.
“Thank you,” Holi said as he ushered him into the pod. Another failed party, he thought, as they drifted away. Maybe the next one would be better. After that embarrassing scene, Holi wasn’t brave enough to go.
Dammit, Holi groaned.
The whole planet was probably laughing at him. They were already talking shit about him. It was going to get worse. Not only was Holi poor and desperate for an alpha, but he was now the omega who offended Lane Killane of the Lamin family.
Damn you Xaine Covus for making my life worse, Holi silently cried.
Tears trickled down his cheeks. He lifted his shirt to wipe them away but stopped when a sudden wave of heat washed over him to pool in his groin. His nipples pinched, and his hole pulsed, feeling empty. Holi bit back a moan, clutching the seat.
What the fuck? He hissed, staring down at his lap. His cock was slowly hardening in his pants.
Was he going into heat? He asked himself as he stared at the swirling lights in the tubes, dumbfounded. That was impossible. His heat was three days away. But why was he feeling this way?
Chapter 4
Xaine
Fuck…Fuck…Fuck… Xaine groaned, staring down at his shaking hands.
What the hell did he just do?
He closed his eyes as he tried to rein in the beast inside him. It prowled inside him, his aggression on a high.
Fuck.
Xaine balled his hands into fists, fighting his desire to go back to the omega. Xaine had been taken by the omega the second he stepped into the house. The omega’s scent had lingered in the air like bait.
Xaine’s nostrils had flared as he caught the enticing scent within the fetid mixture of sweat, desire, sex and longing. He’d moved closer, dragged by something he couldn’t control. Xaine had stopped behind the omega, greedily breathing in his scent without a care.
He’d probably looked weird standing there sniffing the air like a wild animal scenting its prey.
