Page 30 of Collateral Omega

Xaine hissed and forced himself to keep walking even though he wanted to go back into that room and beg the omega to let him fucking knot him just once.

Even if he begged, there was nothing there for him. That omega wasn’t going to give him what he needed. The second the omega stepped into his room, Xaine had a feeling that things were not going to go the way he wanted. His control was already slipping – the need to dominate, to sink his claws into the omega and fuck him hard had taken over. He’d pushed and pushed until the omega was at his limit.

Xaine was afraid he might have broken him. Xaine rubbed his jaw, frustrated with himself. His claws scrapped his cheek.

Xaine hissed as a wave of desire hit him, causing his body to double over. He dropped to his knees, body trembling and drenched with sweat.

Get the fuck up, he commanded, pushing to his feet. He dragged himself to the waiting pod. Preat took one glance at him and got out, giving him the space he needed to collect himself, which was hard to do when another alpha was near, especially when he was in heat.

Xaine dropped his massive body on the back seat and buried his face in his hands.

Fuck.

Klane came out a few minutes later.

“Is he okay?” he asked once the beta got into the pod.

“You didn’t hurt him physically. He has a minor scratch on his hip.”

Fuck.

“He’ll be fine, don’t worry. Why are you out here?” Klane said. “Are you going somewhere?”

“I connected with Dr Micha. He’s going to sedate me for the rest of my heat,” Xaine said. “I don’t think I can calm down on my own.”

“Dr Micha again. I really don’t like that alpha. You’ve been sick ever since you met him. Are you sure about going to him? Getting drugged up again might make it worse. Remember what happened when you got medicated.”

“I remember. Dr Micha has the same concerns as you do, but I begged him to help me. I wish there was something else I could do, but this is the only option I have right now. I crave things that service omega or any other can’t offer me right now. I need to calm down in a sterile and neutral place,” Xaine said. “Do me a favour and make sure the omega gets home safely. And triple his pay.”

“I already did. He seemed to be happy about that. I’ll send something to the agency as well.”

“Good,” Xaine said. Klane got out of the pod. Xaine tried his best not to scream as his heat ripped through him. Was it always this intense? Or was Klane right? The drug changed him.

Chapter 9

Holi

This is madness, Holi thought as he rushed down the hallway to his father’s room. The bag of clothes that had just been delivered felt heavy in his hand. He burst through the door and stopped at the foot of the bed to stare at his father.

He looked better today, but that didn’t mean much. He was usually fine in the morning and got bad in the afternoon. In the past six months, his father’s health had deteriorated greatly.

Holi blamed himself.

His father was stressed because of him. The longer he failed to attract an alpha, the more stressed his father became, which affected the older omega’s health. It was a vicious circle that kept going, and Holi didn’t know how to stop it. He couldn’t make alphas look past his poor status and bond with him.

“You can’t keep doing this father,” Holi said, shaking the bag of new clothes he’d ordered from the tailor in the air. Tears prickled Holi’s eyes as frustration choked him. “We tried. I’ve gone to every party you sent me to. But I still haven’t attracted an alpha. I’m not going to another one. Please, don’t make me.”

“No. We still have a chance. You’ll never know what might happen,” his father said weakly, breaking Holi’s heart. His father groaned as he sat up straight, every movement a struggle.

Holi dropped the bag and rushed to him. He carefully propped him up on a pillow. Holi turned to the bedside table to reach for the glass of water he kept there, but his father gripped his arm to stop him. “Do this for me. Master Yom is a friend of your dad’s. He promised to introduce you to potential alphas. I trust him.”

“No. I’m tired,” Holi sniffed. He was tired of being called poor, desperate and a social climber. “Maybe getting bonded is not for me. I’m going to find a job. A lot of omegas are doing it. Once I get a job, our lives will be better. I can add to dad’s savings and pay Saki too. You won’t have to stress about credit or anything else. You and I can live in this house, and I’ll take care of you.”

“No. You have to go to this party.”

“And do what there? Embarrass myself. I’ve already done that, father. No one wants a poor omega. And besides, things are not like they used to be anymore. Omegas are not allowed much freedom, or have you forgotten? It’s time to stop now, before we attract the attention of the council of alphas. You know I’m only here with you and not at some commune house because you’re sick. The terms of the provisional stay are very clear. I’m not supposed to go out unless I go to work.”

“And you’re supposed to rot in this house with me. I’m not going to have that. The council of alphas can kiss my ass,” he said. “They are not going to dictate the way we live our lives.”
