“Right,” Hura pulled out the other chair next to the desk and sat down. He placed his connector on the desk, clicked through it for a few seconds and announced that he was ready.

For what? Holi looked from him to Xaine.

Hura smiled at him encouragingly. “You can tell us what you expect as master Xaine’s service omega. What you will and will not do, your limits…and so forth.”

Holi glanced at Xaine and quickly looked away, his cheeks warming. So, the house assistant title was for the council, Holi thought, staring at his hands. He should have known he wasn’t going to let him off the hook that easily. Holi bit into his bottom lip, not sure what to say. He’d never been with an alpha before. He didn’t know his limits or whatever they wanted to hear.

“I’ll go first,” Xaine said. “As my service omega, I want you in my bed every night.”

Holi looked up. “I…is that what your other service omegas did? Because I don’t think I can do that. I want my own room, please.”

“You lost that privilege when you ran away from me. Now, I must make sure you don’t run away. I don’t trust you either.”

“I won’t run away. I promise,” Holi said earnestly. “You made sure of that anyway. Legally, I’m bound to you. You are my alpha.” Holi had to force the last part out. He didn’t want Xaine as his alpha.

“You ran away from your first employer, wasn’t he your alpha?” Xaine asked, leaning back into his chair all relaxed and calm.

Working in the leisure room paid well. Holi regretted leaving.

“You made me leave that job. I didn’t have a choice,” Holi said bitterly.

“You shouldn’t have run away from me. And now I don’t trust you,” Xaine shrugged as if he didn’t care. “You’re going to have to earn my trust.”

Holi glared at him, a tiny growl slipping out of his lips. He felt and saw Xaine’s eyes heat up as they focused on his lips. Holi’s lips tingled. He resisted the urge to touch them. Sexual tension thrummed between them.

Fuck, this was dangerous. Sleeping in the same bed was going to complicate things.

“Give me my own room, please,” Holi begged.

“No. I need to know where you are at all times,” he declared.

“Isn’t this a bit too much?”

“No. Do you know how long I chased you around the capital?”

Holi folded his arms over his chest, refusing to answer.

“I won’t share my heat with you then,” Holi said. “This arrangement is not about me anyway. It’s about your heat.”

“And you think I’ll let you? I won’t have you smelling like another alpha,” Xaine said darkly. “I’m a possessive beast. As long as you’re mine for a year, no other alpha will touch you.”

“I wasn’t…” Holi shook his head. He wasn’t planning to be with another alpha. “Never mind. I want a contraception chip.”

“Fine,” Xaine said. “When was your last heat?”

“What? Why?”

“I need to know how long I must wait to be with you. I’ve waited for more than two months. I can’t wait any longer.”

Holi flushed.

“It’s been a week,” Holi said.

“Good. Klane will bring a medical officer tomorrow,” Xaine said casually. “Okay, I’m glad that’s settled. Let’s move on. During sex, I’m going to knot you, there’s no maybe about it.”

Holi gasped. Damn, if he thought the alpha asking about his heat was embarrassing, he was wrong. This was beyond embarrassing. Holi closed his eyes for a second, praying for the torture to end.

“Don’t you have anything to say?” Xaine asked after a few seconds.
