Fuck.
“You should go. You’re late already,” Holi said.
“Right,” Xaine said. He straightened. “Get some rest. I’m going to want you again when I get back.”
Holi swallowed a moan as his hole clenched hungrily.
He wanted him again too, Holi thought as he watched him leave.
And for the coming days, Xaine kept to his word. He fucked Holi wherever and whenever he wanted. Klane caught them in compromising situations around the house more times than Holi could count. It was embarrassing. Yet Xaine didn’t care. Wherever he saw Holi, he wanted a piece of him. And Holi was too weak to say no.
He couldn’t, because he craved Xaine’s touch, his kisses, and his scent. Smelling the alpha’s scent on his clothes or skin pleased Holi. It made him feel like he belonged somewhere. He wasn’t alone in the world. Living in the house made Holi yearn for what he’d always wanted – an alpha of his own.
Maybe once he was free, he could try to find his alpha.
Holi immediately shook his head, hating the thought. But did that mean he wanted Xaine to be his alpha?
No… no…no…no… he didn’t, Holi thought as he polished the balustrade until his arms hurt. Movement down below caught his eye. Holi watched the alpha king, Maxus and Xaine walk to the front door.
“Thank you again. We wouldn’t have achieved everything we have without your help. Now, I can rest easy knowing we’ll reach our goal. Your act of generosity has inspired a lot of people around the planet. We’ve been getting a lot of donations lately,” Maxus said.
“I’m glad to hear that,” Xaine said. “But we still have a long way to go.”
“And we are going there because of you,” Maxus said, taking Xaine’s hand. Maxus smiled broadly while Xaine looked the same – emotionless. But Holi could see that Xaine was pleased by what Maxus said. “The other alphas in the council were concerned about the motives behind your good deeds, but I don’t care. Life is about give and take. Whatever you need, let me know. I’ll make it happen,” Maxus said. He walked to the door and then stopped. “By the way. We’re having a party to honour all our donors. You should come.”
“Uhhhh,” Xaine grimaced. “I…”
“I know you have a thing about crowds and strangers, but there won’t be a lot of people there. Please say you’ll come. The other alphas in the council will be there. It would be good for you to meet them. It’s always better to change people’s minds when you engage with them personally.”
“That’s true,” Xaine said thoughtfully. “I’ll come.”
“Good. I’ll let you know the time and date,” Maxus said. The alpha king shook Xaine’s hand again before he walked out of the door. Xaine turned and stared directly at Holi. His eyes shimmered gold, sending shivers up and down Holi’s arms. His hole grew wet in anticipation. His body was already used to this. Xaine only had to look at him, and he was ready for him. Desire burned hot through his veins.
Damn.
Holi watched Xaine walk up the stairs. When Xaine reached him, he pulled Holi into his arms.
“You’re going to get dirty,” Holi said. He dropped the polishing rag on the floor.
Xaine moaned, tightening his arms around him. “I don’t care.”
Holi silently groaned, loving Xaine’s arms around him. He shouldn’t like it. But fuck he couldn’t help himself. Xaine’s arms felt good around him.
“You’re going to the party with me,” Xaine said.
“Are you asking me or are you telling me?” Holi asked. Xaine pulled back and stared at him, a tiny smile on his lips.
“What do you think?” Xaine asked, goading him.
“Are you trying to provoke me right now?” Holi frowned.
Xaine’s smile broadened. “A lot of omegas are afraid of me. It’s refreshing when you get angry with me.”
Holi’s heart lurched at the sight of Xaine’s smile. The alpha did scare him where his heart was concerned. Holi’s heart was beating so fast he could hardly breathe.
“You’re weird.” Holi played it off. He wiggled out of Xaine’s arms and walked backwards. Xaine followed him. Holi raised his right to stop him. “Stop right there. I have work to do.”
But Xaine prowled closer. Holi took another step backwards.
