“Hi Xaine,” Blaine said behind him. Xaine waved at Blaine, and then got back into the pod. Holi watched him drift away before he turned to Blaine. The omega rolled his eyes. “You two are nauseatingly cute together. Does this mean you don’t hate him anymore?”

“I…” Holi smiled, not ready to put into words his feelings for Xaine. Things were good between them. And he was happy…more than happy. He felt like he was dreaming half of the time.

“You’re in love with him, just admit it.”

“Are we going to go inside or stand here,” Holi said, instead of admitting anything.

“You’re a bore, Holi Covus. Why did you even bother to come visit me?” Blaine said with a huff. Holi watched the omega storm into the house. He stood there frozen in place, his mind stuck on what Blaine had called him.

Holi Covus.

Oh god, he loved it. He wanted to be Xaine’s mate.

Chapter 22

Eight months later,

Xaine

“Hold your head high,” Xaine told Holi as they walked through the large doors of the council building, heading to the party hall. Holi nodded and did as he said, but he still looked nervous. Xaine pulled Holi to his side to comfort him. He’d been losing the battle lately where Holi was concerned.Xaine couldn’t stop himself from treating the omega like his mate. From the day they shared their heats, their relationship had deepened to one that Xaine had longed for years. Every second with Holi felt like a dream.

And the sex…fuck… Xaine got aroused every time he thought about their intimate moments. Holi responded to him beautifully, even the rough and wild side of him. Xaine didn’t have to hold himself back anymore. He could be his true self, and it felt good to be open and free. Open and free with an omega that somehow understood him. Holi was sweet and pure. Sometimes Xaine couldn’t help but feel like he didn’t deserve him. Xaine hated that he had to use his dad’s shady ways to get Holi. Everything he’d done to Holi in the past hung over him like a dark cloud swallowing all the light he'd found in Holi’s arms.

How did he turn their relationship into something pure and wonderful with such an awful start?

“I hated going to parties. I guess that hasn’t changed,” Holi said with a sigh as they walked into the party hall. The hall was minimally decorated with round tables and chairs in the middle of the space. If Maxus wanted to prove to the public that he wasn’t using their funds irresponsibly, he had succeeded. Though there were still too many people for Xaine’s liking. He could understand Holi’s discomfort.

“We’ll stay for thirty minutes. I think that’s long enough,” Xaine said. Holi nodded, looking slightly relieved. Pleasure filled Xaine at the sight. He liked making the omega happy. “Do you want something to drink?” He asked, stepping closer to Holi unable to help himself. Xaine touched Holi’s arm lightly. Holi leaned into him for a second before he straightened. Just that little move made Xaine feel content and happy. Holi instinctively knew how to soothe him.

“Yes, please. A glass of Red Amber would help relax me,” Holi whispered.

“Okay, I’ll be right back,” Xaine said, walking to the other side of the room where they served drinks. Xaine was surprised to see Makar leaning against a wall next to the bar sipping his drink.

“I didn’t know the beast came out of hiding,” Makar said bitterly. Xaine could feel the alpha’s anger. It would seem he was still pissed at him for ending their friendship.

“Hello to you too. It’s been a while,” Xaine said.

Makar laughed humourlessly.

“I didn’t expect you here.”

“Why? My family is wealthy too,” Makar said flippantly.

“I know. I didn’t think you were interested in things like this.”

“I’m not. But I do lend a hand where help is needed. But you wouldn’t know that because you ignore your friends.” he said, staring at something over Xaine’s shoulder.

Shit.

Xaine moved to stand next to Makar and looked around the room. “Sorry.”

“Sorry?” Makar raised his brows.

“What do you want me to say?” Xaine asked, looking towards Holi. His entire body went cold when he saw another alpha standing next to Holi. The alpha stood too damn close. Xaine made to go to Holi, but Makar stopped him.

“Do you mean it,” Makar asked.

“I wouldn’t say it if I didn’t mean it,” Xaine said. “But now I need to go to that omega.” Xaine pointed to Holi.
