Why did I do that? Holi cried.
Xaine didn’t do anything wrong. It was all him. He ruined everything.
Should I go and apologize? Tell him I didn’t mean what I said.
Holi moaned, mortified at his own thoughts.
What was wrong with him? Was he going to beg Xaine to keep him when he clearly thought of him as his service omega?
Maybe Xaine could learn to love him too? Holi’s heart clenched in his chest longingly.
Fuck, I’m pitiful, Holi thought. He buried his face in his hands. He tried to think of a way to make everything alright between them again.
The door to the bedroom opened, and he heard Xaine walk in. Holi pulled the covers over his head, not ready to face Xaine yet.
“Holi?” Xaine said as he walked to the bed. “Are you asleep?”
Holi wanted to keep silent and pretend he was asleep, but he wanted to talk to Xaine too. He wanted to tell him how he truly felt. He wanted to go back to how they were before they went to the party. He wanted to feel Xaine’s light touches and his kisses. But when Holi sat up, Xaine’s face gave him pause. The alpha stared at him with a distant look in his eyes.
What the hell? Did he ruin everything with his breakdown in the pod?
“I’m sorry about everything I’ve done to you. I know I can’t take it back, but I can make your life easier. The contract between your father and my dad has been fulfilled,” Xaine said. “You are free to go.” He got to his feet to walk away, but Holi grabbed his arm. He got out of bed and stepped close to Xaine. Holi greedily breathed in the alpha’s scent. His body turned to mush.
“Wait,” Holi said.
“Please, don’t make this harder than it already is,” Xaine said. “You are the biggest mistake I’ve ever made.”
What?
Holi dropped his hand and took a step back.
“Pleat will take you to the commune house your friend lives in. I’ve already spoken to them. They’re expecting you.” Xaine walked to the door. He stopped and stared at him. “I’m sorry about everything Holi. I didn’t mean to ruin your life. I hope you find the alpha you’re looking for,” he said. And then he was gone.
It was over.
Holi woodenly walked out the door, down the hallway to the waiting pod outside. Preat looked at him curiously. He was probably wondering where his clothes were. This might be his pride talking, and he might regret it later when he needed clothes, but he came to that house with nothing and was going to leave with nothing.
Thankfully, Preat didn’t ask any question. He drifted away from the house in silence and delivered him to the commune. Holi walked into the house and headed to Blaine’s room. The mistress already knew him, so she didn’t question him.
“Holi? What are you doing here?” Blaine asked as he walked into the room. Holi walked to the bed and dropped face first. “Holi?”
“Its over,” he said. “And I think it’s all my fault.”
“What’s over? You and Xaine?”
“Yes,” he said. “I told him I hated him.”
“You what?” Blaine asked. “But you love him.”
“I’m so stupid.”
“What happened?”
Holi sat up and told Blaine about what happened from the moment the strange alpha approached him to when Xaine broke up with him. “I hated the fact that he called me his service omega. I wanted him to claim me as his mate. I wanted him to love me.”
“I think he loves you. Why else would he be doing this?” Blaine said. “He’s trying to make you happy by giving you what you want. Why didn’t you tell him that you loved him?”
“He called me a mistake. I couldn’t open my heart to him after that. It hurt too much.”
