“Did you change your mind?” he asked, nodding toward the first room.
I held his hand tight in mine. “No. We’re right where I want us to be.”
His brows snapped together before I stepped to the side of the hall and placed my hand on a door we’d visited before.
We hadn’t been inside since the night we met at Luminous all those many months ago.
“A private room?” His lips twisted and I had to fight against smiling. “But you...we...I agreed...”
I stepped forward and pressed my palm to his cheek. “I know you did. And I love you for it, but you have to know that like you respect my limits, I would never ask you to stretch yours.”
He sighed and relief swept from his shoulders. He gave me no time to explain further when his hands cupped my cheeks and he pushed me back against the door.
He dropped a hand from me only long enough to open the private door, push us through and re-lock the door before his hands were back on me.
Our mouths fused together, our hands roamed each other’s bodies and when we’d divested each other of our clothing, the only thing sparkling in the dimly lit room was my engagement ring on one finger and the collar around my throat.
“Exquisite,” he murmured, stepping away from me only far enough to meet my eyes. “The promise still stands. Whatever you want.”
I knelt without speaking, dropping my gaze to the floor and spreading my knees, ass to my heels and keeping my back straight.
“This is what I want, Jensen. Everything you have to offer me. It’s the only thing I’ve ever wanted.”
“And you have it,” he whispered, running the tip of his finger along my collar until he reached the lock at the back and tugged. “You have all of me. Forever.”
He was the only thing I needed.
My business was booming.
We were building a home together so I could stay close to my family’s legacy while he gave up his beautiful condo in the city.
We were starting a life together.
And there were no doubts.
No regrets.
Nothing to hold us back.
We only had the future. The promise of not yet fulfilled dreams and fantasies and desires.
But we’d surpass them all. After all our years of holding back, of denying the parts of ourselves we couldn’t fight off regardless of how hard we tried, we’d finally found each other.
Our perfect complement.
A shadow stepped in front of me and I kept my eyes down to the floor while Jensen’s bare feet came in to view.
I was desperate to see him. Desperate to touch him, to feel him, to love him.
“Look at me, Haley,” he said, using that deep commanding voice that immediately made me wet.
I ached as he took a step away from me, crossing his arms over his chest.
“Hard limits?” he asked.
After a brief hesitation, I understood what he was doing.
I took on the stance I had done that first night. “I thought you weren’t going to touch me tonight.”
