I already knew she was.Her car was parked on the street.
“Yup.”
When she didn’t move again, I grabbed my phone from my back pocket.I’d text Brenna to get her ass to the door if I had to but I wasn’t leaving and Gina’s antics were frustrating as hell.Protective or not, I was over the interrogation from her slimy green fun-sized friend.
Right as I unlocked my phone, the miniature Hulk shouted, “Brenna!Someone’s at the door for you!”
“Well, let them in!”Her voice rang from down the hall, barely audible over the music and then that went silent.“Who is it?”
“Oh,” Gina sang, still grinning at me.She was bordering on creepy but so fucking harmless in towels and goo I laughed.“I think you’ll like this surprise.”
“Well, open the door.”She was closer now and with the music off she wasn’t shouting.
“As you wish,” Gina said and looked over her shoulder.“I believe this stud muffin belongs to you?”
She shoved the door open and it bounced against the wall, slamming back.I slapped my hand out to keep it from closing and caught Brenna’s jaw pop in surprise.
“Hey,” I said, stepping into the apartment.
Gina slid into another room, kitchen based on the counters behind her, crossed her arms and kept grinning.I ignored her and faced Brenna.“Hey,” I said again.
A public speaker I was definitely not.
Brenna was equally lost for words.“You’re here.”
“Thought I should respond to your text in person.”
“Oh.”She shuffled on her feet, played with her hair.I had one response in mind that would set her at ease.Ignoring the gooey friend to my left, I prowled toward Brenna, closing the distance in four long strides and then my hands were at her cheeks.I bent down and whispered, “I really liked getting that text last night.Did anything change for you today?”
Two small, warm palms of her hands pressed to my wrists.“No.”
“Good.”I kissed her, pressed my lips to hers and in the background, Gina sighed.I didn’t give a shit.
If Brenna liked me too, I was going to kiss her whenever the fuck I felt like it, regardless of who watched.
She melted into the kiss but knowing there was a green monster watching, I kept our mouths closed and inhaled the sweet scent of her perfume, memorized the feel of her soft lips, and relished in the way she held onto my wrists, securing me to her.Her lips tasted fruity, like she’d just applied cherry or strawberry flavored lip gloss.
“We should probably talk,” Brenna whispered against my lips.
“We’ll get to that.”I kissed her more, until my desire for her threatened to throw away my self-control.
Also, Gina cleared her throat, loudly and obnoxiously.
I pulled back from Brenna and smirked at Gina.“You might want to go to the doctor for that.Sounds deadly.”
Brenna laughed quietly, her soft breath peppered my cheek.
Gina scowled and pointed a finger toward the hallway.“You’re blocking my way to the restroom so I can finish getting beautified.”
“Our bad.”I stepped toward their living room, still holding Brenna, her matching me step for step until we’d clear the hallway.
“And give me a few minutes,” Gina called out, already whipping the towel off her head.As long as she kept the one wrapped around her body on we were good.“I need to wash my face and get dressed and I’ll get out of here for a while.I’ve got plans.”
“With Brandon?”Brenna asked.
“None of your business!”she called back and then a door slammed.
“Brandon?”
