She groaned, rolling to her back. I moved my arm to give her room, and she shoved her arms above her head, stretching and letting loose a delicious little moan. “I changed my mind. I’m not sore at all. Let’s have sex again and pretend you didn’t say that to me in your doom-and-gloom voice.”

Yeah, I’d made the right decision in telling her everything. She could handle it. Chuckling, I bent down and kissed her. “Wish I could, honey. But we’ll play again later, and next time, I get to decide exactly how that happens.”

She blinked, sleepy lust leaving her green eyes. “Is it bad?”

“It’s not good, but it’s not horrible. Take your time though, okay?”

She frowned and closed her eyes. Grunting, she agreed. At least it sounded like agreement, mostly because she sat up, twisted her hair, and held it at the back of her neck with one hand. “You chose last time.”

Goddamn. Were we seriously sitting here talking about this? “You chose when you tied your own wrists.” I looked down at her hand in her lap and wrapped my finger and thumb loosely around it. “How are you doing? Sleep okay?”

“Better than I have in months.”

“Good.” I brought her hand to my mouth and kissed the healing red welts. “I’m leaving now before you convince me to stay, and I can honestly tell you, you don’t want that to happen. We have visitors coming.” I jumped out of bed before she could drag me back.

“Visitors?”

Grinning at her over my shoulder, I winked. “If you want to know more, you have to get ready.”

Her feet thumped on the carpet as I reached the doorway to the hall, surprisingly enough, making me smile on a night I hadn’t thought that’d be possible.

Iwould have thought by now I’d get to used to the ever-present tilt-a-whirl my life had become, and yet it seemed like every day—hell, every hour, my foundations were faltering and crumbling.

After the great day I’d had with Shawn, the gun range, and theholy shit is this really happeningintensity of what we did after, all I really wanted was a night of peace.

Based on Shawn’s tone, it didn’t sound like it was going to happen.

I threw on a pair of flare-legged yoga pants and a long-sleeve white T-shirt. If my world was going to be upended again, I was going to fall along with it in comfort.

With bare feet, I padded down the stairs, flashbacks of running from Shawn flooding my mind as I grinned down at them. God, that was hot.Everything, from the chase to the game, his commands, theties. When I’d first come up with it, I hadn’t realized he’d dive in so fast, and I hadn’t known what to expect. He’d pushed me further than I could have ever imagined going, but all of it was so mind-blowingly incredible, and arousal pulsed within me at the memories.

The spark of pleasure that’d burst through my body with an intensity I’d feared would make me shatter from the inside out—oh yeah, we were definitely going to dothatagain.

I reached the kitchen, where I saw a glass of white wine on the counter and Shawn digging through the fridge, only the curve of his ass in black athletic pants visible as I passed by him. At the last second, I smacked it, laughing at the way he jumped.

“You squeal like a girl,” I teased, grabbing my glass and moving to the other side of the counter so he couldn’t reach me.

“I do?” He slammed the fridge door, kicking it with his foot, and crossed his arms over his chest, bottle of water dangling from one hand. “If we didn’t have people coming in thirty minutes, I’d have you bent over this counter and squealing so loud the neighbors would get worried.”

A flush of warmth blasted through me and I took a sip of wine. “What can you do to me in ten?”

“God you are trouble,” he muttered, shaking his head, but that glint in his eye told me he was teasing. I’d been a good girl all my life.

The idea of being trouble shouldn’t have turned me on, should it?

“So who’s coming over?”

“Charlie and Jaxon and some other men from the team. She learned some things earlier, and we want to get together and see if we can figure out some new leads.”

“What did she learn?”

“She found a trail of money we need to check out, and we’re hoping it leads us somewhere, so I want to head in and figure out a plan.”

“That’s it? That’s all you’re going to tell me?”
