Has Theo already seen this? No way, it literally just posted two minutes ago, and he’s at work. He’s going to absolutely freak!

“What are you doing?” Wren asks, retrieving the remote and pausing the episode.

“Telling Theo he just got name-dropped by Hudson-freaking-Helter!” My hands vibrate with excitement as I type out the message, and I keep having to delete the extra characters I hit.

dude! Hudson just showed your TikTok on his new episode! i’m screaming!!!

“You actually have his phone number?” Wren asks, looking over my shoulder. “Or are you messaging him on Insta?”

“No, he gave me his number on Monday. Didn’t I tell you that?”

Wren shakes their head. “I would definitely have remembered if you did.”

“Shit, my bad.” My cheeks burn for some reason I don’t want to think about. “I was supposed to ask you about tomorrow too. He wants us to come over for a movie night.”

“Like, at his house?” Wren questions, raising a dark eyebrow.

“Yeah. Apparently, he’s got a sweet movie set up. But only if you want to. I know you don’t know him–” My phone buzzes, derailing my train of thought.

i’m not joking! the episode just went live a few minutes ago!

“Are you sure you want me there?” Wren asks, nudging me.

My phone buzzes again, but I look back at Wren. “Why wouldn’t I?”

They shrug, rolling their eyes. “Do you think he wanted it to be just the two of you?”

Just the two of us? I’d be lying to say I hadn’t thought about it. But he asked me to invite Wren and Freddy. I definitely remember that. Was he just being nice? Did he secretly want it to be the two of us alone in a dark room for hours? My heart hammers against my chest.

“No, he definitely invited you and Freddy.”

I'll check it as soon as I swing a break! this is insane! I've got to tell Harrison!

“Well, I’m always game, but we’ll have to convince Freddy. You know he’s probably already got a date lined up with Andrew for tomorrow.”

“Is that still a thing?”

Wren chuckles. “Apparently so. Maybe this one will stick around for a while?”

“We’ll see. But, either way, yes, I want you there. He said we could watch a scary movie, so you should bring a couple of options!”

That excites them. Wren sits up, drumming their fingers together, till they’ve transformed into a Disney villain. “Interesting. How bad should I scar the poor boy?”
