“I gave you everything!” Typhor screams.

The last thing I hear is Shale’s calm words. “The Daane protect their own, Typhor Raines. Do you have any last words?”

I bury my face in Kelly’s neck, but none of us say a word.

Eben fucked things for us. She’s closed off again, even more this time, trying to keep distance. She changed the locks.

I broke the fingers of the asshole who dared to try to keep me from her.

I sit on the bed beside her and watch her sleep.

She doesn’t understand how much she saved us.

Keagan comes in through the window, dropping lightly onto the floor and prowling close.

“She’s slipping through our fingers like sand,” I murmur and stroke her hair back from her face, revealing the scar she works so damn hard to hide. Everything about her is beautiful to me, especially her scars.

I run my fingers over it, and she shivers in her sleep.

Shale walks in. The last couple of months have turned him even colder.

The further she slips away, the more dangerous we get. The more desperate.

I stretch out on the bed beside her. While Keagan takes the chair. Shale will either join us on the bed or prowl the house most of the night.

Either way, we will be here.

Ready to destroy anything that hurts her.

Typhor laughs wetly, but then he doesn’t have much of a choice, the rest of his body is broken beyond compare. Except his arms and legs, he’s going to need those. No one would even recognise him, not that anyone would be looking.

I crouch in front of him and smile. “So, you planned to kill my omega and my alpha?”

Typhor giggles. His body is broken, but I think so, too, is his mind.

The lengths he has gone to have been sickening. He’s had people following Locke, Lia, Ryn, Raider, and Kelly. Typhor bought the island so he could bait Kelly here using Aspyn. He’s raped and murdered a couple of people. The monstrous stories he had confessed to make my skin crawl.

“The problem is, if we give you over to authorities, they will let you go, the same way they did when they let you off after you almost killed your wife and tried to traffic your daughter. I’m not as forgiving. We aren’t so forgiving. You see, Typhor, there is no way I’m going to let you live to be a threat to my pack.”

“You’ll get caught.”

“I won’t,” Shale whispers. “It’s as easy as telling you what we want. I’m really not afraid of the law. And I’m not afraid to do what needs to be done to protect what’s mine.”

I glance at Keagan, who cracks his knuckles. “This should be a really nice show.”

Shale glances at the beach, just checking. The rain has eased to a drizzle now, but the ocean is still rough.

“Pick up the rock and walk into the ocean and die.”

Typhor scoffs, but the command wraps around him, and he reaches for the rock. It’s the size of a cat.
