“WHAT?”

“HOW?”

“WHY? I am so confused.” I’m confused and honestly bemused.

“I found out he cheated on me. I went to his home, but he wasn’t there. I took the spare key from under the rock.”

“People still use that?” Rosemary asks, like she isn’t interested in the story.

“Anyway! I went into his house to destroy his stuff. He was broke so he had nothing to break. So, I stooped, and I let it all out.”

We all look at her “You are supposed to be the calm one. You do yoga and burn incense for Christ’s sake,”I cry.

“Since we are sharing. I dated a lesbian once, not female, the guy just acted like a little bitch.” Anise says like she didn’t just shock us.

“You said what you said.” Rosey raised her cup to Anise.

“I watched the man I was in love with give another woman the love I deserve. Shit still baffles me to this day.” Rosey drains her wine from her glass.

We become silent again “I want the date-me-and-stay kind of relationship. Not the fuck-me-and-go.” I reach for a napkin.

“Don’t cry.”

Anise holds my face “Say it with me, breakups are hard, but so are other men’s cocks.”

We all stop and laugh.

“You can’t go to a mediocre penis though. The cock has to be legendary.” Cassia adds as she bites into her chicken.

Rosemary turns to Anise “When are you going to tell me you are pregnant?”

Anise flings her head to the side and stares at Cassia “I told you to shut up.”

“I did. You just told her what’s up.” Cassia replies

“Talk!” Rosemary demands.

After we listen to Anise tell her story, I look at Rosemary “You have to tell him.”

“No, I don’t,” Anise cries.

“Yes, you do!” We all say together.

“We will support you either way.” I rub her shoulder.

Cassia stands up. “Enough with the gloom and doom we are too cute for that. Let’s go watch some Netflix, eat some cheesecake and drink. No wine for you.” She grabs the wine glass from Anise.

“It’s grape juice!” I watch Anise and Cassia walk in the kitchen.

“Do you love him?” Rosemary asks, catching me off guard. Do I love him?

“I feel like I lost my right arm, and I can’t breathe. Yes, I love him,” I reply.

“Well give it time, I think he loves you too. If not.” Rosemary shrugs her shoulders.

“If not what?” I know my sister can be a demon at times.

“If not, the restaurant will not be the only thing that will be burning down.” I don’t know if she was serious, but I cackle at the way she said it.
