“I want full custody or pay me one million dollars. Rosemary, you have the money. I need it,” he screams like a little bitch over the phone.

How did I not see that years ago? I married a small bitch. Who whines and complains while doing nothing to fix the problem.

Why did I wait so long to divorce him? What was I hoping for?

I saw the red flags, but I was hoping he would change.

Hedidchange—for the worse. It is a miracle I never caught an STD from him. The cheating, the new baby mama, the lies; my soul feels beaten and tired. I am exhausted. I just want it all to stop for one minute.

“Don’t touch me, Kayla,” Finn shouts and kicks my seat.

“I’m not touching you. My finger is hovering over your hand. It’s not touching you,” Kayla replies.

“Mom, tell Kayla to behave,” Fin shouts.

“Mom, I didn’t do anything to him,” Kayla screams.

“Clearly, you can’t even take care of the kids. When I have them, they don’t act like that,” Marcus says.

“MOM!”

“MOM!”

“All I need is one million dollars and I will go away. You have the fucking money, Rosemary. I’m taking it one way or another.”

A slap cracks, and someone screams out.

“Mom, Kayla hit me,” Fin screams.

“Fuck,” I mutter as I rub my forehead.

“Mom, you owe me a dollar for the swear jar.” Chance smiles broadly in his seat.

“Don’t hit me, Kayla,” Fin screams.

I breathe, and I pull the car into Charleswood Grocery store parking lot.

“I don’t understand why the children behave so nicely with me than with you. I wish you were a better mom.”

“Everyone, shut the hell up! I have had enough!” I shout, slapping my hand on the steering wheel.

“Don’t talk to my children like that. I will make you pay for this.”

“Marcus, do me a favor and get off my phone. You’re not getting any fucking money from me.”

“Two dollars for my swear jar.”

“CHANCE!” I clench onto my steering wheel.

“Sorry, Mommy.”

I hang the phone up and give my meanest death stare in the rearview mirror.

“When we go in there, don’t touch anything. Don’t ask for anything. Don’t look at anything. Do you understand me?”

“Yes, Mom.” Three heads nod together.

Kayla pouts and kicks her legs out.
