Part of me wants to lie and say no. But Kai is a perfect mix of his father and me.

All I can do is nod.

Eryx goes to the desk, picks up his crystal glass, and drains all its contents.

Placing the glass on the desk, he moves to Kai who is now lying on the office sofa. He bends and touches Kai’s cheeks. My baby kicks his feet in delight.

“Tomorrow at nine am, I will send my driver to pick you and my son up. We have much to discuss, wear something nice,” Eryx says. He appears as he did the first night, I saw him only now his presence feels stronger, lethal Eryx is a blend of steel and class.

“I am busy tomorrow.” That was as much as I can say.

Eryx bends down, kisses Kai on his forehead and whispers, “I psykhí mou.”

“I can’t come tomorrow, Eryx. You don’t even have my address,” I cry, going to pick Kai up in my arms. He begins to struggle, kicking his legs as he watches Eryx move away from him.

Eryx casts a disgusted look my way, moves to the chair, snatches his jacket, opens the door and leaves.

Kai instantly begins to scream, stretching for his dad, fighting me.

Rosemary, Sage and Cassia rush into the room. I thought they were going to make me talk and I don’t have the strength for that right now.

Cassia takes Kai out of my hand and begins to rock him.

“Guys I?—”

Rosemary raises her hand and I bow my head in silence. My eyes burn with tears, I know they will be disappointed in me. I’m the one who constantly does her own thing and messes up. A warm arm surrounds me pulling me into a clean smelling chest, then I feel another.

“Hold Kai Zac and give us a minute,” Cassia says.

I feel the final arm around me, I sink my head into Rosemary’s chest and I begin to cry. I have so much to say. I cry because I didn’t realize I was carrying a whole burden on my back until now.

“I’m not ready to talk as yet,” I hiccup into Rosemary’s chest.

“I never said you have to. Will he hurt you?” Rosemary asks.

I thought about the man the Eryx seems to be. The man that would destroy my card because I was about to pay for food. The man who made sweet love to me till my limbs grew weak.

“No, he wouldn’t,” I whisper.

“Okay, good. So, we will wait until you’re ready, Ani,” Rosemary replies as she rocks me slightly.

“Don’t take too long cause girl we wanna know.” Cassia shakes and rocks the group hug.

“Thanks,” I whisper.

Rosemary presses her soft lips on my forehead. “We love you, Ani.”

Ason, I’m really a lucky mother fucker. Everything can now be set into motion quicker. I dig my hands into my pockets as I watch the gardener prune the trees in the garden.

The power I was about to attain would be unmatched. Oceania Corp makes me millions with our shipbuilding. Thanks to the new ports opened on Lakeshore, we have new business opportunities.

Now I can turn my attention to the legacy that my father created. I have all the pieces in place, I thought I would have to wait years, but thanks to Anise I don’t have to wait at all.

The door knocks and Khaos walks in with Kyros and Cid behind him.

“We got the text. A fucking son.” Cid’s grin spreads slowly over his face.
