“Is that all you needed?” she says softly picking up her bag.
“Yes. My men will be at your place today,” I state.
“I work from home,”
“Anise any room is yours. I assigned a room for Kai. I will leave the decorations up to you.”
“Okay I want to go home.”
“Okay. Kyros will take you back to your house. Do you what you need to do. But understand your new home is here.”
ANISE
It took a few days for Kai and me to settle in Eryx home. At first the thought of living with Eryx was daunting. However, Eryx is hardly even in this house. He will return to sleep, but he gets up at 4:00am and then by six he is gone. His work is his main priority.
Nonetheless a lot has changed in that small period of time. I now have a huge office with all the accessories to go with it. It’s aesthetically pleasing to the eyes; Eryx had an Instagram corner created for me. This morning while I was feeding Kai in the kitchen, he came in and gave me a black Amex card.
“See if you can put a dent in it,” he said and he walked off. Another thing that changes is, I have a bodyguard now. Kyros is with me 24/7. He is with me now as we are parking in front of Sage’s house. Saturday brunch was always my favorite time of the month. It’s where my sisters and I gather and eat every last or first Saturday in the month, depending on our schedule.
He jumps out and opens the door. I unbuckled Kai out of his seat, and I slide out the car with him in my arms.
“You don’t have to come in,” I said as I quickened stride up to my sister’s door.
“Continue walking Mrs. D, I’m not here.”
I stop right before I open the door, turning to him I say. “You don’t need to call me Mrs. D. My name is Anise,”
He smirks. “Walk inside of the house Mrs. D.”
“Oh god you’re a pest.”
“Mom said get your big head inside because they are hungry,” Poppy smiles up at me. I didn’t even realize that she opened the door.
“POPPY! I never said big head. You’re better watch your mouth little girl,” Sage shouts.
Poppy giggles and runs inside the playroom.
I try to ignore Kyros and enter the house, I near the kitchen I can hear the sisters.
“I need some sort of inspiration. I can seem to think clearly,” Cassia says as she chews on a carrot.
“Oh, gee, my nephew.” Rosemary stretches hands out. Kai goes to her kicking. “Who is my little yum yum? It’s you.” Rosemary kisses Kai on his neck. He squeals, revealing his cute gummy smile.
“Um, Anise? Who is that?” Cassia nods towards Kyros who I know is standing behind me.
Why couldn’t he stay in the freaking car?
Before I can answer, Kyros reaches around me over the counter. “I’m Kyros. Mrs. D’s newest bodyguard.”
“Excuse me?” Cassia sounds confused. “A bodyguard? Why the hell do you need that?”
“Why is he calling you Mrs. D?” Rosemary finally interjects as she rocks Kai in her arms side to side.
It can’t get any worse than this.
“Wait a hot second. Mrs. D, where is your ring?” Kyros asks.
I closed my eyes trying to steady myself waiting for the barge of questions that were coming.
